There seems to be an uptick in suicidal pilots yearning to go down in a blaze of glory and get that fifteen minutes of TV fame. I expect more copycats might emerge in the coming months. Be wary and pack a parachute on all commercial flights.

They should really start installing ejector seats in these airliners so passengers can make a clean escape when one of these lunatic pilots goes with the suicide solution (in this case 430MPH hard landing on a mountain).

What happened on the German flight wouldn't happen here...pilots don't leave the cockpit and that cockpit door is locked as soon as the plane goes to taxi. Those regulations happened due to 9/11.

I think it's in the realm of possibility to get two or three depressed pilots to enter into a suicide pact. I wonder if one suicidal pilot could lock the other one in the bathroom. Where there's a will there's a way.

The day might come when completely automated planes are feasible and trusted. Removing crazy terrorists and the suicidal from the equation.
