I mean, generally we find places to sit or lean back on for a bit, but I can't imagine being alert on a mid or rev watch with a chair. If I was a CO I'd be loving terrified of my bridge team being seated on those watches in tight maneuvering environments. Besides, you'd be surprised at what you miss when you're not up and about. You'd probably be surprised at how much poo poo you catch last minute before making a turn, simply by walking out to the bridge wing and double checking.

LCS is a little different though, it does have a wide view and no bridge wing, is smaller and more maneuverable than even DDGs and CGs.

Kinda wish I could get a superficial tour of one but by being a dirty boot student I somehow doubt it.

Have you seen me?

You can walk on to any ship in the Navy and ask for a tour. You're supposed to do it in a service dress uniform, though, especially if you're bringing family members.

The HELO dunker was a lot of fun! Although my sinuses feel like they're going to be chlorinated for a week.

Pretend my finger's a knife.
I walked up to LCS 3 while she was fitting out and got a tour. They were great about it, they showed me around even though they were preparing for a CODEL visit. The STG2 showing me around said the only drawback was that he was essentially doing the same job he did as an E-3, the crew is so small only the chiefs have anyone to supervise.

No poo poo? Dang some LCS was in port a few weeks back but nobody said we could do that.
I guess we aren't expected to take an interest in cool poo poo.

The one I went on is the one in Pensacola right now and is going to be here a while. I'd offer to take you up there but I PCS in about 4 days.

Oh I got a car so I can go this Saturday on my own. Heck I'd offer to be your cabin boy/servant for an actual interesting tour.

Fair sailing shipmate!

You mean the museum ship in SD? I didn't even know there were TS spaces on the thing (I guess I wasn't paying attention). Which ones?

HAHAHA! Ahh Eeeee BPOOF!
Just out of curiosity, is it possible to get a Navy COM with V but have no CAR?

There's a paper warrior whose POV has what I assume is his actual ribbon rack in sticker form alongside an "IRAQ" sticker and a "I served" sticker. I thought the V for valor was reserved for acts of heroism against enemy in action but maybe someone can shed light on this? Or perhaps he found some kind of loophole like heroically doing his job in the AC on the FOB while ducking from mortar rounds that were hitting 100 yards away or something.

Btw, asking why was because I really don't know. Makes sense though for typical ship. But the LCS is insanely maneuverable as you said. It can turn inside is own radius and can walk itself sideways, can stop itself in about 1.5 lengths of the ship, etc. My buddy told me there is video of the LCS doing crazy maneuvers during sea trials (uploaded by Austal). Also interesting is the fact that they use autopilot a lot underway. If they wanted to they could autopilot all the way out to open water but they aren't quite that comfortable with it yet (although they are getting there).

The gay one

I'm a builder I peace out for Gulfport tomorrow morning to begin to forget everything about ships and the best places to have hidden gay sex on them. Or since it's a new Navy, in the open gay sex

Gay is the only way in the new Nav-ay!

Actually I mean the walking to the compound is a bitch. The actual 1.5 mile run in running shoes is easy and I get a 1100 to 1200 even injured (I'm allotted 15 minutes).

So... one of my dep pool future sailors just showed up at Corry three weeks ago and she got caught getting the D already. Her dicks roommate walked in on them and turned them in. Kinda of a jerk move but drat it they could have just hopped on a bus to the main station and rented a hotel room.

Corry really just needs a hotel of its own.

Q: get out of navy yes/no, ive got a year left in my contract, any orders i take i will need to obliserv for. my teacher orders got cancelled, and I haven't obliserved yet, so I am at that wonderful part of career where all options are open.

I'm leaning heavily towards yes, but when would be the best time to drop that bomb on the command, because it is guaranteed that saying gently caress YOU GOT MINE is gonna piss a lot of people off, and I will get sent to a lovely TAD within a week or 2.
