Then you can either pony up the extra dough or find a substitute truck, the whole time thinking 'I wish this was a Tacoma'. I'm under the impression that the entire group of Tacoma buyers to be are a bunch of deranged amphetamine bingeing money waving craigslist sleuthing never sleeping bastards. I'm simply looking for a manual tranny 4x4 Tacoma with at least enough frame left that it won't snap off the lift when I go to have the frame patched (because they all need to be patched). That truck is $5K all day. All loving day. I live in the North. IOwnCalculus posted:Unless you're willing to spend some serious money on a Tacoma, get a Ranger instead. Dollar for dollar, what you get in a $3000 Ranger (at least in AZ) is a hell of a lot better than what you get in a $3000 Tacoma. I hear what you are saying. The Rangers certainly offer a value and they are more common. In my experience, I routinely see the 2.7L Toyota motor with pretty monster mileage i.e. 300 to 400k. It seems to be bomb proof and yet with decent economy vs/power whereas I generally see the Rangers over 200k for parts and pieces as they had some catastrophic failure. I'm thinking of the 4.0 and head gaskets ect. The 2002+ 4 popper in the ranger appears to be a pretty good engine too? Ultimately, I'd like a counter point to the e36M in terms of driving and utility. Run poo poo over and haul stuff.

Well, if you require 4x4, unfortunately you're going to have to go for a V6, or a considerably older truck. They stopped doing 4WD 4cyl Rangers / B2500s in 1998.

Any idea why you guys had the a 2.5l instead of a 2.6l? * They were ford couriers here from late 1970s until 2005 while they had the 4cyl engine. They only changed the name from courier to ranger when they changed from the 2.6L 4cyl to the 4L v6 in 2005. Not CL, but I saw this today and I know some people on here love opels: Didn't look at it to closely but it looked to be in pretty good shape. I only stopped cause there was a '86 mr2 parked next to it for sale, but it had poorly done body work on the right rear quarter panel that was rusting.

It's probably a malaise-era 305, so it's not going to be fast enough for handling issues to come up Most people put 3.8s (with or without the SC) in them, they're cheap, plentiful, make good power (especially with the supercharger) and weigh close enough to the same as what came in them that it doesn't gently caress the weight distribution up much. They still need work to handle well though. Turbo Fondant fucked around with this message at 06:21 on Mar 30, 2015 |

Also, the Lamboero is surprisingly not-poo poo-looking as far as those things go, until he opens the engine bay. I said it years ago in this thread, and I still believe it's true: "invested" is by far the best search term you can use in the Craigslist autos section. "Invested" does bring up lots of results. But aren't these the same people with unrealistically high asking prices who won't be bargained down and who will instead relist the car month after month without budging on price? Well, maybe they'll add "OBO" but will follow it with notes about NO LOWBALLERS and I KNOW HOW MUCH THIS IS WORTH kind of stuff.
