And of course they're all roughly the same level as you, in roughly the same area, and ringing the opposite bell that you're ringing the same time you are, right? The password won't do poo poo for you unless you plan it out in advance.

I never summon. I tried it once and it failed, and I don't want to waste my insight. I don't typically burn potions unless I think I have a good chance of winning.

there is no way to waste insight. you get more every time you help some one out. vicar amelia is great for this because she doesn't have a berzerk mode or a poison cloud like other early bosses so beckoners don't die so much. past that point you'll find so much insight using it doesn't matter.

Usually I have more trouble than other people finding people in these games because I live in Hawaii, but this time I seem to be having a really easy time compared to some.

Seriously though, give up on the idea of playing with people you know and just play with anyone. They clearly crammed that feature in at the last minute to finally appease people who keep asking for that, and it's clearly a piece of poo poo.

yeah and alway summon at the lamp not at the boss door. the game almost always finds you a 3rd player if you give it time.

I always turn on the bell at the lamp and then just play through towards the boss as usual. I usually have someone by the end. With jolly cooperation, you can make any boss into a sucker.

I know Bloodborne made some of the menus easier and inventory and stuff but an overall easy mode or something could be nice.

That removes the heart of what makes Bloodborne so unique though. A lot of the problems people have with the game come down to just needing to learn the gameplay mechanics, pay attention, and be patient. Bloodborne is actually really good at subtly teaching you how to play, and easing you into the game. The problem is we have been conditioned to have our hands held, set the difficulty to easy and forget about any more complex mechanics in games, and avoid text that clearly spells more vague features out to us. I'm guilty of doing this stuff too. We work against ourselves and then blame Bloodborne for that, and call it harder then it really is.

Bloodborne is actually a really well balanced RPG and i'm glad there's no difficult setting.

I'll be honest I would probably enjoy a Souls style game with exactly the same aesthetics and sense of exploration but with a normal action RPG difficulty. I don't want quest markers or maps or anything, just let me make a few more mistakes without being punished and I'd be happy.

This series is the standard holder for action RPGs now. Other developers are trying to emulate this difficulty level (often badly), not the other way around.

I dunno, seems like even games trying to emulate the formula exactly (Lords of the Fallen) make some concessions difficulty wise.

DD's difficulty swings so wildly, there are a few times when it's harder than a Souls game, and others where it's lax as hell. I'd much rather have something with the consistency of a Souls game.

That said, I love DD to death.

If you guys want easy mode just dupe up a shitload of echoes and play the game at level 200. You're still going to have to get down basic stuff like parries and dodging but hey, you got your invincible killing machine like most games.

It's still way more fun to learn and get better at the systems though.

Went and looked it up, the instructions on how to dupe go something like this (copied from a reddit post)?

Have two characters
Empty both stash boxes
Put 1 pebble in your alt's box
Leave game
Load the alt (this is where people are getting it wrong, you have to load the character with the 1 pebble already deposited)
Leave game
Load main
Deposit 1 of any item you wish to dupe
Buy 98 pebbles
Retrieve your 99 duped items
Repeat steps 8-10

Obsurveyor
Jan 10, 2003

That's pretty much it. You can also do this for a second character, it doesn't have to be your real, main character. You just have to load the alt with the pebble, then load the character you want to dupe on. I did this on a second character, so I can do a fun run off in the future, before they patch all this out.

I don't think Estus Flasks would really work in Bloodborne you take more damage more frequently than any other souls title that being able to pick up more health without having to return to a lantern every five minutes is probably the better solution.

I can't play connect to the Bloodborne servers and some of my PSN store features arent' working. When the PS4 boots up it gives an error code, and when I look that up I can't get any straight answers. The code is nw-31456-9. I played Bloodborne all week without any problems using the same router and settings, I don't know what the hell is going on. Is this just a regular PS4 thing and I have to wait it out? I just bought the PS4 recently so I don't know if this will just go away after some hours.

Souls games are funny. I'm a woman in my 40's (probably the last demographic they're aimed at) and generally when provided the option I go easy on a first playthrough so I can experience the story. But Souls? I just jump in and while I'm not "good" I figure it out pretty quickly and end up helping other people with bosses and stuff. Total poo poo at PvP though. Basically if I can beat these games anyone can if they just pay attention. If what you're doing doesn't work then loving try something else. It's not brain surgery.

Also co-op fucks up if you put the game into suspend, so stop doing that. Assisting I get hits pretty quickly, and when summoning there's only been a few times where I've waited for any length of time and I think that's because there's nobody helping on that boss (gently caress you, Paarl :argh: ).

The error code on the official site says I need to restart my router, which I did and nothing happens. I also rebuilt the database in safemode and that didn't do anything.

Its just weird because it was working perfectly all week, it can't just be too weak a signal or something like that. I'm also not seeing anyone else reporting this problem today, so I don't think its a PSN issue.

Where does it say to restart your router and why did you rebuild your database?

Since you say it worked all week i assume it hasn't been a problem for long.
PSN might just be slow for you/your area - happens to other websites all the time.

If you have trouble summoning players for boss fights, there are places to summon NPCs to help on at least two of the bosses I encountered and they make bosses even easier. There may be a spot on every boss, and I just haven't noticed them all. They look like player notes, but they are always there. For Cleric, it is right outside the house coming down from the gate shortcut. For BSB, it is just to the right of the path you are walking down.

Also, don't worry about wasting insight, it is all over the place soon enough.

You did the right thing restarting your router per the instructions. I was just confused, because the other error code basically tells you to wait for a while.

Does other online stuff work (browser/ youtube) ? - if yes, your wifi connection is fine and it probably is a PSN problem.

I just picked one up and extracted the drive. It was super easy - the top is held on with some clips and a little tape, and I was able to get it out just by prying with my fingernails. Then I peeled up some foil tape and pried the drive up at two spots on the back (opposite the connector) and it came right out. It looks like the enclosure should be reusable, too.

Just don't pay attention to the monkeys on youtube gouging and twisting the plastic trying to get the casing apart with a screwdriver. It's not necessary.
