I live in a condo building, where there's a parking garage and adjacent to that there's a small storage unit for each condo, like 3 square meters or so. These are notoriously always filled with crap because, you know, crap. So my genius neighbor sent an email to me (I'm in the HOA) frantically asking if we knew the whereabouts of his set of brand spanking new summer wheels, because he'd put them in the hallway next to his storage unit. This is a) illegal due to the fire code and b) against the HOA rules and c) monumentally stupid as there's been a bunch of thefts from the storage unit area, and in every case it's been evident that someone had gotten hold of a key. Turned out the super had taken them into custody, so he'll be able to get his wheels back, but goddamn...

I've been pulled over for an expired inspection in a rental, of all things, and on my way home from picking up the rental (and once I looked closer at the inspection sticker, it had been pulled off of another car... thanks Enterprise!). Ah, but I had a long a friend who is a sperg on vehicle paperwork, among other things. turns out Texas has an online form for a Permit for Transit, good for 5 days, to get your new car home or to the DMV with expired stuff. So I did the long drive perfectly legal - and didn't see a single cop. Glad I had that friend along. Made the paperwork easy, including send a release of lien to the guy my cousin bought the thing from, because he hadn't filed the official form with TX yet. some texas redneck posted:It's like watching Cops. Except the song isn't as catchy, and there's usually a moose involved. My wife watches a show with Game Wardens in Maine, I think. Such dumbasses out there. (Welcome back, Reducing Dick.)

I've scored a pedestal drill from work, they were scrapping it because our rules changed & we can't have a 240v, belt driven drill anymore. loving Ejits, but I'm not complaining. Now I just have to get it home, then store it somewhere until I've got a garage The drill they replaced it with cost £6k and is more complex than the 400t press next to it.

I got laid off today and I'm pretty zen about it, seven years with the same company through a couple buy outs. I knew it was coming and hated the company but I think I got spoiled working 4 ten hour shifts from home. I've never been unemployed before, so it should be interesting, time to finally get off my rear end and get some certs.

You really only need it if the seller keeps the plates, or the tags are expired. Texas started allowing the sellers to keep the plates in private party transactions several years ago. And in Darchangel's case, the inspection and registration are both expired.

So I saw one of these today in the wild: My first thought was that it was a really well done conversion, but I looked it up and according to C&D, it's factory and there were 1602 sold in the US between 2005 - 2008. I guess I learned something today. e: Yeah, the X-type wasn't the most awesome car, but I have a bit of a soft spot for oddities vv

Huh. So a few pages back I bitched about the 110 punchdown tool I bought. I left a 1 star review for it on Amazon that day as well. The seller just emailed me saying they're sending me a replacement for free. I didn't contact them at all, since it was past the 30 day return period when it broke, and it was only anyway, so no great loss. Bonus points for customer service and paying attention to reviews, at least, though I doubt the new one will make it past a few jacks.
