I don't understand why there's no Pyro gun that shoots steam. It seems weird that there's no steam-themed things in the game at all.

2fort isn't even a good gimmicking map anyway. Hightower is much better for that. You can caber snipers as a demo or pyro shark. It's too enclosed for any other kind of gimmick really

You can sticky bomb snipers with charged shots too, I can't think of any other map where you can do that from complete safety.

But it's only fun for a few minutes before you realize you're just standing in one spot alternating mouse button presses and watching the kill feed.

I'm a terrible sniper, but the last time I played 2fort I went pee sniper and got something like 10 kills in one life just shooting stuff on their battlements. Apparently no one on the opposing team thought the Sleeper could one-shot. :shrug:

Then I realized what the charged-sticky poster did and left. And that's 2fort Story Time!

No but I sometimes accidentaly taunt a second time when the taunt menu pops up again after the first time and I try to change weapons.

Whenever I use the standard weapon taunt it keeps the taunt menu up even after I taunt, and I have to weaponswap to get rid of it, which has gotten me killed multiple times

Is this a problem for anyone else too?

Unfortunately the goon hivemind decided years ago that area denial is Not Fun and any ideas promoting the concept are Bad Ideas.

I think at this point it doesn't really matter, the well of new ideas for weapons seems to have run dry so maybe it's time to dust off some goofy concepts.

I can't even have fun on 2fort while loving around, because something dumb like mittens heavy is only fun if you can occasionally get someone with it, and unless you use your minigun to manage to slog yourself up to the sniper perch and punch someone in the back you'll never get past the courtyard. And even if you get to the sniper perch someone who just respawned is gonna walk up behind you and kill you because of where the spawns are located.

2fort is amazing in that it has literally no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

It's one of the best detailed maps Valve has made, which is impressive considering it's a launch map and its peers are creatively void stinkbombs like Well and Granary. They did an absurd number of tricks to improve the overall look of the map.

Yeah 2fort is pretty much the quintessential "here is what a TF2 map should look like visually" regardless of how it plays, it's got most of the elements of the game packed into it from red = wood, blu = metal, to a sorta deserty but not really color scheme, and gravel. Let us not forget the all-important gravel.

I'm trying to figure out how this would be at all functionally different from the flamethrower and I can't figure it out. In either case you're just spraying hot gas at the enemy.

Because area denial is in fact not fun and adding more to the game is a bad idea.

Area denial is fine when you have a way to counter it that's not just "wait for the area denial thing to stop happening". Most times this is not the case.

Allow people from either team to ignite the oil, and since there's no friendly fire it makes it safe for your team. Turn the tables on the clever trap layer. :colbert:

Airblasting it would be fun too, splatter burning oil all over your foes.

Not really. You can either go past spawn, under spawn, or around the corner from spawn on a route only a few classes can get past. Turbine is the only ctf map which doesn't invovle going past spawn at all.

No, do. :( Bright red/blue fire would be cool, and make the weapon visually different when someone is taking the(increased) damage.

My only other idea for a pyro primary that hasn't been dumb is a flamethrower with 1/3 reduced damage(obviously huge), but the amount of damage afterburn does on tick depends on how many people are currently lit on fire(number displayed over ammo) while you are still alive.

So it starts out doing 2 damage per tick, +1 per additional person lit. So if you manage to light a whole group of 6 people on fire and run away, they're all taking 7 damage per tick which adds up to a fuckton over time... but if you just blindly run in and die the afterburn doesn't do bonus damage, and if you ambush individual people your DPS is really bad. The idea is to actually make the early playstyle people used to do before pyro got lots of buffs+new toys(where they would run in, light a bunch of people on fire, run out) actually viable.

Call it the Slow Cooker or something.
