Reedus is a passably good actor but nothing to get excited about. Call me when they get Robert De Niro or Al Pacino as an aging 50s gangster out of his prime who mistakenly wanders into Silent Hill. You have a building insanity meter that you have to purge by pressing X to ham it up in a loud soliloquy, but this makes the monsters hear you and attack you.

Yeah, they're most likely just going to can it. Konami is probably going to pull out of video games all together, they make more money off pachinko machines and fitness clubs.

If Konami were cool they'd just sell off all their IPs, but- ha ha ha.

It's this. The only reason Silent Hills existed at all is because of Kojima, HQ wanted the series dead after The Room. I could see them keeping a tiny crew on to oversee Winning Eleven and their rhythm games if those still make money in Japan, but they've mismanaged their game division into the ground and just want to wash their hands of it now.

Then let's just hope they sell the ip, and to someone who will use it.

That... actually sounds like a really neat idea, honestly. It could be noir as gently caress in the Otherworld.

Good news: Konami puts their ips up for sale.

Bad news: they're snapped up by Capcom and Square Enix.

Here's hoping Kojima leaves and partners with Del Toro and they make a horror thing on their own away from Konami.

This is the best possible outcome, and not unlikely either. Kojima's not going to have any trouble being an independent developer. I could see him making the exact same game he was going to and calling it Noisy Valleys or something.

Sure I think they fit here fine, there's been off and on discussion about them before. They were also one of the closest things we had to big budget horror games until Alien Isolation came along. I only played the first one though, the series didn't grab me much.

Konami Japan doesn't want to publish video games anymore. There's a myriad of reasons for that, but most of them stem from executive mismanagement of their games division.

While 2 was good, it did have some pretty bad pacing and plot problems. I still honestly feel that 3 was the better out of the original trilogy but it still pretty much required playing the first two games to get a real understanding of what was going on. And then 4 was just a bizarre, buggy mess with boob physics covering up a reasonably nice setting and story.

Did Tsukiko Amano do a song for 5?

E: Found it. The chorus is nice at least, but her others were better. Fives song actually sounds kind of light.

This is an amazing summary and we need a game akin to DS1 in terms of horror.

The ishimura was a FANTASTIC, creepyasfuck environment. The station in 2 was great but just nowhere near as creepy as the Ishimura.

Going through a dimly lit corridor with that hosed up organic growth all over the walls was creepy as gently caress and I loved it.

I'm a pussy when it comes to most horror stuff, and I ALWAYS fall for jumpscares, but I loved the DS1/2 games. gently caress 3. gently caress it forever.

I ducked out of the first one about 20 minutes in for some reason (can't remember a thing about the movie, so I may be wrong about it) but I hear the second is a vast improvement and actually a solid film.
