There's a haint in the foothills of NC; the haint of the #3 chevy. The rich have formed a holy alliance to exorcise it but they'll never fucking catch him.

If anyone cares the Tampa bay local news ran like 5 stories about the race. So locals like it.

Which is a great thing. It may not be Road America, Phoenix, or MIS, but you know what? People seem to have really taken to it. The Long Beach model seems to have worked out amazingly well for IndyCar.

Juan seems to be on a mission. I hope we continue to see him go on it.

Yeah it's been a local favorite for awhile now since the CART and IRL days. It's like a fixture pretty much and it would suck if we ever lost it, hopefully that doesn't happen for a long time.

The drivers love it too. Hell Dan Wheldon liked it so much he moved here, he was a local hero :smith:

YT Doubler with Will Power on reds 2014 vs Will Power on reds 2015, side by side. The difference starts becoming obvious halfway through, but the car just seems faster the whole way 'round.

Career oval tally so far:

333 starts
8 poles (I'd have far more but qualifying is like signing your own death warrant sometimes)
6 wins
68 top 5's

It's Tyco's electronics division, spun off, and like Uncle Jam points out, a lot of automotive wiring connectors and that sort of stuff are made by them. Really, it's a pretty good fit for Indycar. More apropos than, I don't know, Jonathan Byrd's Cafeteria, at least.

It's nice to dream but seriously Autopolis is in the middle of goddamned nowhere, and not just Motegi style "in the middle of nowhere but close-ish to Tokyo". I lived in Kyushu and thought about going to a couple race weekends there but timing wasn't right, it was a 3-hour drive each way and also Super GT has the nasty habit of charging like $90 for single-day tickets. Aim for for Motegi or go full fantasy booking and have Toyota return and go to Fuji Speedway (which is 90 minutes from Tokyo by car).

I'm not so sure its spun off, maybe more Tyco exploded and all the bits went everywhere and got acquired by 10 different companies.

Fuji would be the obvious one but as you said it's Toyota territory. There is Okayama too but it's also remote and has transport and infrastructure issues.
