Kinda off topic, but does plugging a mouse (and keyboard, too I guess) into a usb hub have any negative effects?

I have the EC evo and it's really good, the only thing I don't love is the rubberized coating that rubs off/gets shiny after a while on the black one. It fits my giant hands and has the best scroll wheel I've ever used.

Some meandering thoughts on the MX Master.

Does the MX Master have a button under the thumb like the MX1100? I've grown to use that one as much as the back button as it's so easy to roll your thumb onto... The side wheel looks to be a interesting alternative though.

My MX1100 is feeling it's age so this mouse is looking pretty good to me right now.

Yes it does. It's better positioned and does not activate accidentally like it did on the PMX.

As long as you don't have too many other devices on the same hub it shouldn't, especially if it's a powered hub. If it's not a powered hub, you can pretty easily overload it, but in that case you'd likely be getting error messages to let you know.

It'll just be the keyboard and mouse, so it should be fine I guess, thanks.

I'm mostly interested in the MX Master because of the 3-device pairings with a hardware switch. That's really nice for those of us on so many machines daily, including those that just never work all that well with KVM or USB switches (I have a 2-way USB switch across three computers and it's nuts I tell you).

It's also about goddamn time Logitech did a proper Bluetooth mouse that wasn't cheap poo poo. Not every device I want a mouse for has a USB port, and this is great.

I'm still curious what the "gaming" performance is like. Any word on latency, etc?

Zowie mice have obnoxious dpi steps though. Something like 450/1150/something stupid high which is okay I guess because 1150 is usable but bizarre or 400/800/1600 on certain mice entirely missing the 1000-1200 range which is roughly where you want to be at 1920x1080. And no way to change those steps. I'd avoid them for that reason alone. They are made from quality stuff and have great shapes if the dpi doesn't thing bother you. I'd also check out the warranty before buying one. Not a big deal to me, but for some people it might be.

Does Zowie make a mouse with the AM material and the FK shape? Because I have both an AM and a first generation FK and the coating on the FK is some sort of plastic-rubber paint that's cracked and peeling off, and also seems to attract caked sweat and dirt like a magnet. The AM, on the other hand, is solid rubber and doesn't seem to be affected by sweat or grease at all

I've had an M950 for about 3 years now, it is slowly kicking the bucket, fantastic mouse but the scroll lock is slowly failing and not re-engaging the 'clutch' and sometimes has been a little unresponsive when clicking and dragging items by not registering thati i'm still holding the button.

I saw a catalog this morning that a store is selling them for $65 until Saturday, down from the normal $99 (listed at $88 from a pure computer parts store) so I'm heading in now to purchase a new one, if they haven't sold out yet.

Edit: Got it, M950t (hooray regions!)

My g600 developed the double click issue, it seems like it stops when LGS is off, but reinstalling it doesn't helps. Is there any known fix for that? I tried googling, but I don't like the idea of having to use an AHK script, and I did not find any better solutions.

I'll open it up and look at the tension spring when I'm back from work, but it feels like the problem is with the software.

Ugh, the LMB in my M705 is getting flakier by the day. A part of me is tempted to get some absurd, wired gaming mouse with an assload of buttons, but I'd forget to use the things.

I think this is the third one I've been through under warranty-ish return; they tend to last me nine months to a year (I play MMOs and similar games a lot, so there's a lot of left-click, but not so much an issue with latency), and I'm not sure what I'll do next. I've always liked Logitech gear, but these button switches are for the birds.

The email I got after submitting a warranty claim on my Performance MX had a long list of dumb stuff to do like bypassing USB hubs, if any, switching ports, using 2.0 rather than 3.0, unpairing it from the dongle and uninstalling intellipoint and Logitech's software. I'm going to get around to doing all that stuff and writing back if anything is fixed but I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem and I really don't want to take it apart myself after seeing how tiny that copper switch is and realizing that you have to bend it back juuuuust right without snapping it.

I hope they fix whatever it is in that switch that fails so very very often.

G502, lots of extra buttons (10 including Tilts) and very customizable, very solid all around and has a long warranty.

If you need more buttons than that, try setting up MB4/5 as Ctrl/Alt and tie each hotbar to a particular modifier, it works like a charm once you've got the hang of it.

Dang it. I was all ready to pull my plastic out for a G602, because I'm a sucker for wireless and the thumb buttons look like they're in a nice position, but then I saw user reviews complaining about the same button wear issues I've got with the M705.

Might go with a G502. Just need to figure out a way to keep the cord from dragging too much.

IDK how much you use that thumb button but I found my 702 again and I had it for 6 months-ish. Definitely didn't have a problem with the thumb panel, though my fiance's is getting a dimple where the thumb switch hides underneath.

I own both, and go with the G602 for practically everything. The button positions are plain better for rotations. It's missing tilt wheel which is a massive oversight for an MMO mouse, but the tilt on the G502 is too stiff and unreliable for my taste.

I would recommend a Naga as that was by far the best for me as buttons go, except the scroll wheel broke after a few months and Synapse is a piece of poo poo.

I have an MX 518 that the scroll wheel isn't spinning anymore, so I'm in the market for perhaps a slight upgrade. I was thinking of something with more buttons for the sameish price, but I'm not sure which one to get. G400 or G700? Or something else?

The G400 and its successor G400S are exactly the same shape as the MX518. The G400S should still be available in some places. The G402 is the new spiritual successor and is a new shape but fits the same category of "midrange optical mouse" for logitech. The G502 is a their higher end laser mouse and is apparently very good, too.

Not spinning in what way? Open it up. It's probably fixable without any tools besides the phillips screwdriver used to open the mouse.

So I'm looking at replacing my current mouse (sidewinder x8) since it sends scroll down events randomly and is failing to charge pretty reliably. The g700s and g602 seem like they'd be my best choices for wireless mice and I'm leaning toward getting the 700 since the 602 appears to need the batteries to be replaced and recharged outside the mouse, plus I don't need 8 loving thumb buttons. Any issues I should know about with the g700s? My main concern is low latency but I never had a problem with my old mx1000 so I'd assume logitech still know what they're doing on that front.

I just replaced a failing MX518 with the G402. I don't play games at all, so I would prefer the sniper button or whatever it's called to not be there, and I have a slight preference for the back/forward thumb buttons on the 518, but overall, I'm happy with it as a replacement.

Is the MX Master as dreamlike as I imagine? I have two M705s and I love the thumb button (set to mute) and the tilt scroll (volume up/down) and the back/forward buttons. I like my Bluetooth Arc but the lack of a mouse button and back/forward kills me.

Should I buy a $100 mouse?

My Razer Naga poo poo the bed after 5 years of service, so now I need a new one. One thing that I didn't care for about the naga was how freaking tiny it was. Is there a decent gaming mouse that as big as something like the Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse? Ergonomically, that thing was perfect, but the trackball would be useless for me and I'd like some macro buttons so I can press a button on the mouse with my thumb to talk in mumble.

I'd prefer it be on the cheap side, preferably under $100.

That looks pretty decent, actually. I may be limited to whatever they have at Best Buy since 1) I need it by Thursday to do something in Visual Studio and I don't have any Windows compatible/non-Apple mice and 2) I have a BB gift card to use up :saddowns:

The Naos shape is really nice but its nowhere near the size of that trackball. Func MS-3 is closer to that, same ergonomic idea as the Naos but larger.
The Naga isn't that much smaller than the Naos, and the Naos isn't as tall if I remember right based on the Naga my friend had. I have and really like the Naos shape but wish it were slightly larger. If it were a little bit bigger and had the G502's sensor I'd be loving sold.

Goo please make a Logitech version of the Naos. Use a Naos-esque stiff indexed scrollwheel too! The Naos wheel is my favourite for gaming. I'll buy at least three.

For $34 I might just grab the trackball abomination to get me until I can find a decently huge ergonomic gaming mouse thing. For reference, I can wrap my hand around an iPhone 6 Plus with a Tech21 case on it and a Note 3 with a shell case on it :haw:.

This thing looks really neat but I don't see any sort of scroll wheel on it. Otherwise it's perfect for FPS games.

From what I've heard that thing is an uncomfortable piece of crap. Upright mice are a cool idea that don't seem to work well in any existing format.

The Func MS-3 is as big as you're gonna get for a large ergo mouse... or really most any mouse at all that I know of. Trust me, its loving amazingly comfortable. The only real potential downsides are that its a laser sensor, and they used to have some quality control issues that were supposedly fixed with the "rev2" version of the MS-3.
