I've only known one person who got called up for Jury duty: my babysitter when I was in elementary school. She said she couldn't do it because she was an honorary member of the Ku Klux Klan. Pretty weird thing to tell a kid, I think.

At least in CT they send it out to hundreds of people expecting less than a third to show up. They don't spend any money on registered or certified mail because that poo poo's expensive yo. There is literally zero consequence to ignoring it, at least in that state (so says a marshal and a clerk, both of which told me the same thing). I have no idea about anywhere else though!
