I want to see more generic pilots with EPTs and high PS values. TIE Interceptor has the Royal Guard TIE and Saber Squadron Pilot, TIE Fighter has Black Squadron Pilot, M3-A has Tansarii Point Veteran, but those are the only ones.

The A-wing is basically a TIE Interceptor with one more hit point, one less red die, and no barrel roll. For one squad point less, and a lot less pilot options. Besides, we both know the B-wing stands for Best-wing.

Can't say I agree; Yes, it's the Rebel TIE-I, but a Green with A-Wing Test Pilot and Chardaan is 17 points at PS3, compared to a Saber Squadron (for equal PS) comes out at 3 points cheaper, loses barrel and 1 Red, but gains a HP and an extra EPT slot. A-Wing Test Pilot enables a lot of things, but yes, you can't use the much cheaper Prototype Pilot for much.

The real sticking point for me is having only two red dice. X-wing is pretty well skewed towards rewarding attack, and A-wings just plain have less of it. You can take away some of that by moving into close range, but you're still rolling less red than something heavier, and taking any missiles is essentially two points more expensive than taking those same missiles on anything else. Your Green Squadron Pilots need two EPTs to make A-wing Test Pilot mean anything, and at this point you're making them pretty point-heavy for a ship with such limited upgrade options. It's more effective to spend those points upgrading a large ship.

A-Wings have Jake Farrell, so any hate on the A-Wing is invalid. Using his free action and PTL to boost twice always catches the people I play with by surprise. And he can do free barrel rolls. I have taken out Soontir Fel so much with Jake it's not funny.

Jake states that when you take a focus or are assigned a focus, you can do one free action, either boost or barrel roll. From my understanding, free means it does not count as used from your action bar.

Free just means it doesn't use up your action ability for the turn. A good way to think about it is like magic where it's the difference between "your next spell costs 0" and "you can play an additional (otherwise restricted) spell and it costs 0." enigmahfc posted:Well, gently caress. Apologies for the long post guys, but I need some goony wisdom. I got into this game thinking that I would just buy ships which were in the films. A plan which didn't hold solidly as I broke this it with the tie defender (because I loved the game) and the phantom (as I was desperate to find something useful against Fat Han). So my choices look like this: Rebel 4xXwing (core set, bought pack and the GR75) 2 x B wing (one bought, the other in rebel aces) 2x A Wing (one bought, other from rebel aces) 1x Ywing Falcon Imperial 5 tie fighters (2 core sets, one pack) 3 interceptors (one bought the other two from imp aces) Defender Bomber Shuttle Tie Advanced Tie Phantom Firespray I was basically buying from both sides so I could play with friends who came over, and reading that it looks like I did favour the imp side a bit. What can you do? However, there's now a local tournament coming up and I've decided to enter along with my friend and need help putting together a build! As you can see, my brilliant policy of "I didn't see a decimator in the film therefore it doesn't exist", has the potential to undermine our chances quite a bit assuming my opponents didn't have this issue. My go-to build has been: Krassis Trelix in a firespray with a HLC. A lambda shuttle with the OGP and vader (doom shuttle) then Fel in an interceptor with PtL and a stealth device. Seemed to handle most things well, but it relies a lot on Fel and 360 turrets disagreed with him. If you had the ships above what would you pick as a decent tournament build? All suggestions welcomed! My friend is looking at a rebel build using a variation of chewie in the falcon with B wing support. I don't have the tantive iv so no C3P0 card for him! I'm willing to bet at least someone in the tournament fields a falcon and as I hate losing to fat han so much I'm giving strong consideration to just binning my 'not in the film' policy and buying a starviper (I read the book!). That would get me autothrusters and would open up: Fel, Royal Guard Tie, PtL, Autothrusters, Stealth Device Whisper, FireContSyst, AdvClDev OGP with Vader but I think that might require more piloting skill on my side, as I wasn't great with the phantom on the one occasion I've used it as I kept finding that everywhere I wanted to decloak had an obstacle or an asteroid in it! I'm aware of the phantom 'nerf' but frankly I think that might help my terrible play as at least then people will crash into me rather than me arsing up the decloaking near them! All thoughts welcome! I'm a noob so would welcome any pointers. Obviously I have no lofty ambitions of winning the tournament, I just want to make a decent account of myself!

You could work out how the two of us are going to dispose* of our relevant families and we could get to play more often than every 6 months. *Obviously not permanently, that would be weird, right...? ...Wouldn't it? ...Yes, it would. Never mind.

True it will not come along if this is what I go for . It is not the fixed list though. I could change mangler cannon and recon spec for.. Auto blaster and tactician or something and then maybe ad stealth device or targeting computer to the int. The only one I am satisfied with is the phantom. Such a pain with that loadout.

Help me Goons! I am trying to make the below work: Mango Festival 14 Cartel Spacer 2 "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor 4 "Mangler" Cannon 14 Cartel Spacer 2 "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor 4 "Mangler" Cannon 14 Cartel Spacer 2 "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor 4 "Mangler" Cannon 14 Cartel Spacer 2 "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor 4 "Mangler" Cannon 14 Cartel Spacer 2 "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor 4 "Mangler" Cannon I flew it against Xizor, Guri & Black Sun Enforcer, destroyed Black Sun but lost all of my ships to a combination of arc dodging from my opponent and me hitting asteroids. Plus I did a lot of barrel rolls instead of focussing so most of my attack rolls were one hit upgraded to a crit being easily evaded. Second time I flew it against Soontir Fel, Turr Phennir and Whisper. I focussed a lot more this time but split my ships into 2 groups to take on the Interceptors and Whisper. My rolls were a lot better but so much evading and focussing meant that my opponents rolls were just that much better. I'm thinking of flying it a third time, this time flying in tight formation to overlap their arcs as much as possible to really pound down a target at a time. I haven't tried flying a TIE swarm before which I imagine is pretty similar. I am still kind of new so I feel I'm getting better with each game but I just want to get another opinion: is my dream of a squad of five agile glass cannons handing out crits like candy something which will never work practically or might it be something that I can pull off if I get better at flying?

How about like this: M3-A INTERCEPTOR: · Serissu (20) Swarm Tactics (2) Stealth Device (3) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) Heavy Laser Cannon (7) M3-A INTERCEPTOR: Cartel Spacer (14) · Experimental Interface (3) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) "Mangler" Cannon (4) M3-A INTERCEPTOR: Cartel Spacer (14) Stealth Device (3) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) "Mangler" Cannon (4) M3-A INTERCEPTOR: Cartel Spacer (14) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) "Mangler" Cannon (4) It is only 4 but they don't shot last and they can dodge better.

Well I just played the 5 Mango Scyks against my friend flying Turr, Soontir and Whisper and although I got to mangle Turr to death and got 2 crits on Fel, I lost 2 of my Scyks in the time we played for a total of 40 squad points of damage. So many red dice against flimsy, low pilot skill dudes and even though I flew in a much tighter formation, my friend could dodge out of an arc or two when it counted, reducing the red dice I could throw. We called the game a little early as he had to go but it was kind of clear that he could pick me apart, even with some good blocking on my part. And my friend isn't even all that experienced as he only plays with my ships. So the list I'm working on now is: Scum Mini-Swarm V2 Serissu (20) Swarm Tactics (2) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) Heavy Laser Canon (7) Tansarii Point Veteran (17) Veteran Instincts (1) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) "Mangler" Cannon (4) Tansarii Point Veteran (17) Veteran Instincts (1) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) "Mangler" Cannon (4) Cartel Spacer (14) "Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (2) "Mangler" Cannon (4) Four ships seem easier to fly in a good formation and higher pilot skill will help, plus Serissu's ability will increase the survivability of the other three while in formation. Thinking about trying out different combinations of cannons such as Ions and Flechettes as well depending on the list I might face. I could even swap the HLC on Serissu out for a Mango and upgrade the Cartel Spacer to another Tansarii Point Veteran with VI.
