I also had to mess with things in a vm to get the video to load, maybe check how you're embedding it and test on some different clients

So what is the advantage of NetworkManager over wpa_supplicant with wpa_gui?

it integrates with other components.

if you want to manage layer 3 stuff yourself, you don't need anything from n-m

Athas posted:

And it's all the same lovely drivers underneath. The only problem I have with wpa_supplicant is that it is sometimes really stupid/lazy about telling the DHCP client that it should try to get a new IP address since the connection just changed.

wpa_supplicant doesn't communicate with your dhcp client at all. it is strictly a creature of layer 2. your dhcp client may or may not try to get a new lease of its own accord. the two things are not talking to each other.

if you want them to work together seamlessly, you want network-manager

Yeah, so what happened is that our third-party contractor we used to build the website modified the page without checking it into GitHub which fixed the mixed-content warnings. I built the countdown script on top of the GitHub version expecting that that would be up to date, but it wasn't, and so when we deployed the new version, it broke.

I, of course, didn't test with HTTPS locally.

It should be fixed now. Thankfully we discovered this before it went "super live".

Oh lol is this one of those things where people think they can solve political problems with technology? like giving a computer to some poor coffee farming or banana picking slave is going to magically make them not poor so that white people can have nice things when they go to wal-mart.

Some of those people are probably too poor to own cars, and ride bikes to get around. How do you feel about this with that knowledge?

its unfortunate, but we can only hope their economies develop so they can build roads and then bring in cars for those roads. it would be more embarrassing if you were too poor to afford a car in the US and rode a bicycle around instead.
