Ranger>S any day.

I remember test driving a brand new S15 or whatever the hell it was in the mid 00s and the thing was a rattle trap right out of the dealers lot and the signal lights wigged out.

Sounds reasonable. Kinda sucks because the Dakota is the only smaller truck wide enough to fit a kart in and I'd prefer a ranger. Every half ton Chevy I've looked at doesn't look like it'd hold its value well even though they'd probably be more reliable, at $1,200 the Dakota seems like the way to go.

I'm a little suspicious at that price but the mileage and canopy topper tick all the boxes for me so its worth taking a look at.

Price is a little high IMO. Looks to be in good shape though. See if he'll take 900.

My dad's was a 92 (I think) and it was great. No issues while we had it, and I bagged it pretty hard as a teenager.

I also had a Dakota that was a good truck. Brutal gas mileage with the V6 though, for a "quarter ton" truck.

My old man bought a 96 Ranger brand new. He had it for 6 months and it was only out of the shop for about a month the entire time. So I guess be careful?

So the dodge was a bust, those pictures skillfully covered up the fact that it was hit on the rear passenger side. Also was smoked in :barf:

Got a hot lead on an 92 GMC 1500 though.

I've heard good things about them, but don't really know their platform. I'm more insane because I'm honestly mulling the idea of voting for the NDP just to balance out Wild Rose.

I landed directly on NDP, but I will be voting Alberta Party, as they finished 2nd in my riding in the byelections last year:

They might actually have a chance, probably because it's the party leader Greg Clark's riding. Their HQ is directly across from OJ's in Marda Loop. We ran into one of the campaign people on byelection night at the Liquor Depot down the road from HQ, he had a shopping cart full of booze and was inviting everyone to come and party. It looked like they were going to be throwing down no matter what, so here's hoping they pull if off this time :)

Nah, only the abortion ones :colbert:

And by abortion ones, I mean the "Abortions For All!" billboards :buddy:

I'd like to think I am fairly progressive but, by and large, don't agree with a lot of messages from many of the loud special interest groups. Be it unions, religious groups, environmentalists, native rights, etc. Some of those responses in particular certainly skewed me a fair amount. If I tempered a few of those from a "strong" answer I'm pretty sure it would have had me probably about as far up as many of you guys on the social side of things so I think several offset which is why I landed in the middle.

I am fairly anti-tax and anti-government handouts all around so I'm going to be on the right side of the fiscal line regardless. :bahgawd:

Powershift

I would be ok with reduced hand-outs if the job market made it possible for people to live off the wages offered, but no unions and a low minimum wage allows companies to pay pennies, and let the government pick up the slack to see people's needs met.

A system where every rung of society can meet their basic needs with 1 full time job per household would obviously be ideal and negate the need for handouts, but that system can't be created by pulling the rug out from under the lowest rung. A family not making rent isn't going to make mcdonalds pay more. A person not having timely access to preventative care isn't going to make their long term care cheaper for society.

In non-depressing news, the edmonton michener auction tomorrow has something for everybody now.

edit: the bidbook is up, that first ranger is the first truck of the day in lane 2. At the one auction in went to in calgary, the first car of the day couldn't even get a $50 bid, it could go super cheap. http://www.maauctions.com/Portals/0/Bidbook/BidbookApril11_2015.pdf

God I wish I would've known about that sooner, would've made a weekend out of going up to Edmonton.

As an aside, looked at a truck with "170k" that literally had everything broken/leaking. If you're going to roll back the odometer, at least make it somewhat credible.

Turbo Fondant

To be fair 170k is more than enough time to fully trash a truck mechanically, given enough abuse.

I haven't been to an auction in 20 years. Are they as mind numblingly boring as I remember? I remember some decent freak watching opportunities though. Generally manifesting itself with morbidly obese people of both genders jumping up and down as much as they can and lots of swearing.

Also, decided I'm probably going to vote for the Alberta party... only to find out they don't have a candidate in my riding :saddowns:
