From what I've heard its a barrack(4+ to a room) style life with stringent rules. Only wifi too and it sucks. Stay with a friend? I guess if your a E-5 that could be an option. We have nice dorms at Corry but very little to do on base compared to Pensacola.

NAS is pretty nice, but A school is lovely, constant room inspections, saluting in and out of the "ship" aka barracks. strict liberty policies, segregated berthing. but you do have a movie theater on base, the beach is close, and check out palafox st when you get phase 3. also dont buy a car from some buy here pay here place, use navy federal.

Tons of people have laptops and play league on Wifi but the the barracks on NAS dont have coaxial like half the buildings on Corry Station do. You can most certainly bring your computer. Just dont get it sent to you by the USPS. Those motherfuckers stole my computer and Ipad and refuse to pay out insurance because I cant provide receipts proving I bought them. The poo poo dissipated in their sorting base and they even found the empty box and mailed it back to me missing the 16lbs of stuff. Since its a government entity the Navy wont really help me either. What they sent me back after it got lost at their shipping plant for three weeks. So whoever stole my poo poo just left the box lying around for the inspector to find it and mail it back. What. I bought a sager laptop from here 3 years ago: http://www.xoticpc.com/custom-gaming-laptops-notebooks-clevo-sager-notebooks-ct-95_51_162.html I wanted to buy a new one recently, but my current one holds up too good to justify it. Pros: 1080 screen resolution, no stupid branding or "rad" designs, plays games just as good as an xboxone or ps4, portable. Cons: I paid something like $1400 for mine, you have to pay by cash/check to get a decent discount (but I think they also offer a military discount), every 6 months you may need to open it up and clean dust out of the heatsinks.

My shop had a shop desktop that one of my sailors owned but there is no way we could have supported multiple people bringing desktops onboard. Plus, a laptop can be used in your rack. I used one of those padded blue folders they put awards in as a mouse pad in my rack, works loving great.

On the Nimitz during 2006-2009, I had a gaming laptop. One of the last ones alienware made before Dell purchased them. Took that thing literally all around the world with me. It has sand from Dubai and Fallon in it both. Played Dawn of War: Dark Crusade for months. Nimitz had a computer classroom for NCPACE. On Sundays, the ITs from ComSys would run the join and install Battlefield and Warcraft III on it. Had so much fun doing that, the next deployment I brought a wireless router with me and set up an Ad-Hoc network in the berthing. Everyone who brought their laptops connected to it and we could play games with each other.
