Uncle at Nintendo posted:ah I missed your follow-up post by only a few hours; I was going to try and save you some time but anyone here looking to get the extra Famicom audio from their US NES, you no longer have to mod the insides of the system: Ah, that's cool. If I keep collecting Famicom stuff I might have to get it just so I can use accessories. Actual Famicoms are more expensive than I'd like. (Well, at least from some cursory searches I did from sellers with English listings. Japanese sellers might be more reasonable) I had some fun figuring out how to do the mod, though. I did a "non-standard" version where I passed the Famicom cart audio to EXP3 for convenience because they were directly across from each other inside my converter, and then jumpered EXP3 to Audio In internally in my NES. I used a 100k resistor because my searches determined that something in that range was good for original Famicom stuff (It's true, it sounds great). What's cool is that if I get an Everdrive N8 I can just add a 47k resistor between EXP6 and Audio In and it will work too because the mods will be mutually exclusive. Been thinking about good arcade games that never got home ports, and what a shame it is for some of these games. Here's my list of broken dreams: Cyber Cycles Radikal Bikers Top Skater Red Earth/Warzaid Prop Cycle Planet Harriers Sega Super GT/Scud Race Rave Racer World Rally I'm probably forgetting a bunch but this is what comes to the top of my head. Whenever they bring out an arcade game to home consoles, like Afterburner Climax or Tank! Tank! Tank! I always try to buy it to support that sort of thing

Hexen 64 seems to suffer from very low gamma making it solidly worth the 5 bucks I spent on it. Which makes me think Doom 64 is the only Id game I would want to own for the system.

PS3 has been pretty great for that, although I missed JoJo when it was up (still have it on DC at least.) Still need to pick up Daytona USA and maybe Sega Rally. There are also quite a few Neo Geo releases on Wii that I want to get but can never make a decision on. Last Blade 2, Ironclad ... uh, and other ones that aren't on the PS2 or Wii collections. I want a loving Bubble Bobble mega collection, dammit. Bubble Bobble Part 2, Parasol Stars, and Bubble Memories need wider availability. I imported the Game Boy version of Parasol Stars just to have SOME version of it at a reasonable price.

That Last Blade 2 VC thingy is pretty accurate and the only legal way of playing the game properly outside the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast version, similary to Garou MOTW, was programmed in a rather shoddy manner and will murder your system's laser. I wish they would bring all the NeoGeo and TG16 stuff from the Wii to the U. As basic as the account system is on the U I'd prefer that over nothing on the Wii and loving Wii points.

It is my fighting game fanatic brother's favorite game for the NeoGeo. I don't have any direct experience with the VC version, but NG games work just fine on the Wii so I see no reason why that should be an exception. Just be sure to have a pro controller or a fight stick for it.

So I've been a little behind because of work, catching up on the thread. I can't get that Sound Factory/Fantasy dump to work. I know it's got to be through the mouse, but my emulator is apparently ignoring the fact that I've got it set to mouse? Maybe I need a new emulator. Speaking of emulators, one of my favorite obscure racing games is one that is apparently an absolute bastard to get to work correctly on MAME (or I may just suck at emulating, probably this) There's also Mad Gear, which is another arcade title, kinda like Bump 'n' Jump on steroids. Haven't been gaming a huge amount lately, but did recently pick up Breakthru, Solar Jetman and Burai Fighter for NES, all of which I'm bad at to varying degrees.

Went with some friends earlier today as well. The show was basically a ton of playable consoles/computers spread throughout a maze of hotel rooms varying from ballrooms to hotel rooms with beds removed. A large tent with lots of vendors selling things, and several rooms with pinball and arcade games set to free play. I only took a few pictures, so here they are. One of the rooms with various playable computers and consoles Closeup of some things Magnavox Odyssey 100 with a TV that matched perfectly I was quite happy to spend some time playing one of my favorite arcade games, Atari Football: I was most blown away by was something I had never heard of - Sharp x68000 XVI. Some home PC from Japan that could play what appeared to be arcade perfect ports in 1991. The picture of the PC itsself didn't turn out, so here's its info sheet.
