There hasn't been a new Sega Compilation since Sonic's Sega Genesis Collection.

Capcom and SNK haven't release any retro compilations either. and Nintendo only put out NES remix which sucks because they couldn't be bothered to put the actual games on the disc and I hate playing scraps of already existing games. Retro compilations are some of my favorites to collect and I've got the majority of them on the PS2 and Wii. The PS2 had over 100 Atari games between two compilations and like 80 taito games and everything ran around 20 bucks and under.

Now you need to pay like 10 dollars in imaginary fake money to buy digital downloads of a single old game. I Even got Data East Aracde Classics because Ninja caveman/Joe & Mac by itself is some insane price.

I never played it, but I have a distinct memory of being at someone's house when I was 3 or 4 years old and seeing them playing this Atari game that looked completely badass and it was River Raid.

All the e-reader cards can be easily duplicated. But it blows royally that the Original Arcade Donkey Kong has never been properly ported to home consoles. I hope they rectify this when that stupid adam sandler movie comes out. Namco and the other companies already got poo poo ready to go.

The only somewhat proper port of the original arcde game was on Dk64 with all the rest being the NES game ported(including the e-reader version). But Yeah you need to unlock the game in DK64 and it's not just there by default.

Also, I'm pretty sure they alter it so that you only have one life. Maybe that's just for some kind of bonus coin though, I just remember it being a thing that I did.

I think that was just for one part of the game. But by default it had regular arcade rules IIRC.

Either way we need an arcade perfect port of Donkey Kong and have it made into a Hard Copy. There's like so much legacy poo poo that Nintendo could do, but they don't. Like you would think the Super Mario Allstars Collection would have been top notch, but even the special edition of that paled in comparison to stuff like the Capcom collections or even the Taito ones. The Kirby compilation was better than the Super Mario bros. one.

That terrible Gamecube/PS2 Rampage game was awful but it had a perfect emulation of the arcade version of World Tour.

I can't put my finger on why, but Subnautica is pushing my buttons way more than I would've thought. It's still a bit freeform and there's some things I'm not digging (salt is required for decent food, but other materials are much more common/easier to notice), but it's incredibly engrossing and I don't really know why.

another shit post

So I got curious and took one of those $20 deals to buy AC Unity. After all, surely the most game breaking bugs got fixed right away and it's just rough around the edges, right? Surely people have been blowing it out of proportion.

I got to the part in the introduction where you jump off the Bastille and the game softlocked with a tense musical note playing waiting for me to jump. Well, that's silly but easy to run that last checkpoint again after a reset.

So getting out of the intro I decide I'd like to try sucking at a co-op mission, since I just bought some newbie gear and have basically nothing to lose. I get the one where you're supposed to rescue a guy from being executed, and in the excitement of trying to find the last Templar sniper I lose track of the fleeing prisoner.

He is never heard from again. I hosed around for the next two hours trying to figure out where he might have gone, then I give up and look up spoilers on where he's supposed to hide out. Over this time I go through probably 15 different co-op partners, some of which have five diamonds and health bars out the rear end and none of them know where the fucker is or even head in the right direction.

I get to the actual place the prisoner is supposed to flee to and after three locked doors that are too high we find the unlocked one. We go down into the tunnel where he should be... and nothing. His little hideout is there just like in the spoilers I found but there's no loving escapee. I try getting my rear end killed just in hope something resets but poo poo all works and I gave up for the night.

I can tell this is going to be a very special game.

Except musical theater sees new musicals written and performed all the time. Opera doesn't really have that, just performances of centuries-old pieces. Even classical music is more dynamic.

opera is actually cool and plenty of places play it with a sort of winking self-awareness that makes it both relevant and fun for modern audiences. Last year I saw a very funny version of Don Giovanni.

I have to work with opera as a part of my work and get to see it for free, which can be nice, but it is stressful whenever that rear end in a top hat octopus shows up and tries to drop 5 ton weights on our performers.

plus, the all-time favorite Donkey or Wari(o) opera, containing the famous "Garlic Aria" in which Wario plans to throw a party celebrating his new game launch, is a classic for all gamers.

my new goal, as of right now, is to somehow convince our opera programs that this is a good idea, but someone will need to write enough music and lyrics to fill about an hour and a half and use a full orchestra.

If you put together a good Kickstarter presentation you could probably get hundreds of thousands of dollars from nerds to make it happen
