Really though, taking as hiatus from music and going on some sort of Mike Rowe dirty jobs type experience could get him to clear his head of music enough that when he returns, the creativity just comes flowing out. When I read "Get in the Van", an interesting part was when Rollins was all burned out from touring and feeling depressed. For the summer the bandmates helped build a house for someone. Maybe Greg Ginn's mom ? It gave Rollins a new perspective on hard work. His quote was something like "We get self absorbed and think we're the hardest working group in the world. Spend a summer busting your rear end in the california heat building a 2 story house. It puts things in perspective."

For someone like Devin, he seems like the type who is going to burn himself out doing anything. And thats fine, maybe he needs to burn himself out in another way for awhile.

I'm listening to the dialogue Dark Matters album for what is probably only the second time - the version I have on my ipod is the 'clean' version. Now that I know the songs, the dialogue is actually a lot more fun and i'm enjoying it.

Really looking forward to seeing it performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London next week. I have poo poo seats, but hopefully it'll still be fun and he will have screens up for us in the nosebleeds to keep a track of.

Seeing something like this performed at the Royal Albert Hall is fun, because it's such a posh and prestigious venue.

Enjoy the show! Seriously jealous.
Just saw Dev said there will be no stream this time, but looks like there will be a Blu Ray, though.

I'm really excited for the Albert Hall show later. March of The Poozers is going to be immense. It will be interesting to see what songs pop up in the second half of the show that were voted for.

This is only tangently related but Anneke recently released a collaboration with Arjen Lucassen. It is an two disc concept album that tells a story about a sailor and his lady. The catch is that both discs contain the same songs. One has the laid back 'gentle' version and the other has the more aggressive 'storm' version.

In my interpretation, the story is very different with the same lyrics but different tone. For instance (big spoiler) the lady either meets with her long lost sailor lover and gazes into his eyes living happily ever after because the sailor had a gentle voyage, or gets to see his dead body and mourns for the lost times because he died in the stormy voyage. The lyrics are the same. The tone literally determines if the sailor lives or dies. In my opinion, it is really well done and innovative. Luckily, the lyrics were written by Anneke so they aren't that bad either.

Edit : according to Wikipedia, my interpretation is wrong. I like my version better.

What's it called? This sounds cool.

It has it's moments but for the most part it's just post-Human Equation Arjen. Anneke sounds lovely as usual though.

Drunk as hell, going to bed, but Devin blew the lid off that place. Closing song was Eternal Flame and he brought his son out who hung out directly in front of the drums looking terrified. Z2 was cool live, but the song set afterwards was truly special. We even got Heatwave complete with straw hats.

Hell yes, and Devin looked truly happy with it all. I know it's the Royal Albert Hall & all, but still had earplugs in. Don't think my hearing ever recovered from a SYL gig in 1998, and this show was, as ever, deafening (but a great sound mix).

Loved at the end he shook hands or hugged everyone with VIP tickets (who were invited on stage for the last song), then jumped down to speak to the fans in the front row.

Great bloke. Great gig

Edit: Z2 = heavy metal space opera?

Yep, that was it - I had never heard death of music before, it was weird to see Devin ditch the guitar and do straight up singing. His vocals were absolutely amazing for that, he was giving it his all and nailing it.

Not gonna lie, it was an incredible show. I was hoping for Ih Ah, as cheesy as it is, that one is always magical when the whole crowd gets involved. I can just imagine that being beautiful with the thousands of people that were there.

The only thing I would say is that in terms of theatre, Retinal Circus had far more. This show was pretty much all visually supported by screens with not much stage stuff going on at all. The giant Poozer was loving hilarious though, with its sad fishy flappy mouth. I know he is doing a DVD, so i'm very much looking forward to getting the live MP3's. I just hope it doesn't take a year like Retinal did.

Pretty good

I was stood right in the middle of the arena and it sounded perfect. I didn't have earplugs in. It was so loud I could feel it but still sounded really clear and I could hear everything and it didn't hurt my ears or make me want to put my earplugs in. It sounded as perfect as I hoped that DTP at the Royal Albert hall should!

Does anybody else who went have hold of a ticket they can make a copy of for me?. they took our off us on the way in and I couldn't find someone to get it back off at the end :( I want it to stick on my wall with the rest of my tickets!

It was still probably hearing-damage volume anyway. Also, ask me about keeping kids off my lawn.

Seriously though, if you get passingly decent earplugs they won't reduce the sound quality anyway.

So looks like Dev is coming to London on the 9th of Oct for some kind of acoustic/spoken word show, whatever that means. Probably going to be a small/chill venue.

None of my friends are really interested as they like the heavy stuff, but im a big fan so am pretty interested. Any other London goons thinking of going?
