Killing Floor 2 is a horde-based, single- and multiplayer PVE first person shooter developed by Tripwire Interactive and sequel to a beloved, Game of the Year Award winning Unreal Tournament 2004 mod. Announced on May 8th, 2014, Killing Floor 2 released on Steam Early Access on Tuesday, April 21st 2015 for $30/£20/€27 base edition and $40/£27/€37 special edition. Killing Floor 2 finally released on November 18th, 2016 after a long 18ish months in Steam Early Access. Killing Floor has one of the best online communities you will ever experience and survival depends on good communication and adaptability when a situation goes tits up. Released for retail in 2009, Killing Floor 1 enjoyed years of free updates that kept even the most veteran players hooked. We don’t see any reason to believe Killing Floor 2 will be any different. RELEASE! - November 18th
About Killing Floor 2 Killing Floor 2 can be seen as a suped-up re-imagining of the original Killing Floor. Perks, zeds, weapons and the slow motion 'zed time' all make a triumphant return with new twists and vastly upgraded animations and graphics. Just like Killing Floor 1, you and up to five allies will battle four to ten waves of various enemies (zeds) before challenging a boss, spending time between waves buying upgrades and scrounging for ammo. Unlike Killing Floor 1, KF 2 will launch with 10 perks that can be leveled all the way to 25, letting you better survive even the most difficult encounters. KF2 is built upon a heavily modified version of Unreal Engine 3 which is used to expand upon the three essential pillars of Killing Floor gameplay: Bullets, Blades, and Blood. Meet the Perks
Meet the Zeds Clots, Husks, Stalkers, Scrakes. Every zed from Killing Floor 1 has been re-imagined for Killing Floor 2. Bloats will lower their head and charge; scrakes will spin, dash, and upcut players; husks will cover entire areas with flame. Additionally, zed attack patterns will become more sophisticated as players increase the difficultly.
Meet the M.E.A.T. M.E.A.T. stands for Massive Evisceration And Trauma. Every zed has a wide variety of death and dismemberment animations which really let you enjoy the damage you’re putting out. Bodies will break apart, slice in half, and slump over; blood splatters will remain for the duration of a match. General tips and recommendations

Confirmed game I best want but can't buy for another month because of severe lack of money. Can't wait to pop heads off as sharpshooter again, though. That new dismemberment system will make it much more satisfying.

Sucks that Tuesday is the release date. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't have the time due to schoolwork. Certainly an odd day to release a highly anticipated game, even for early access.

Looks pretty cool, but I felt like the first game went off the rails with DLC towards the end. I am kinda worried that this game will have less content than the original, but have more DLC. Might wait a bit before jumping in to EA.

so apparantly someone just released a modification for Killing Floor 1 that replaces the KF1 music with KF2 music. It's up in the steam workshop from what I can tell. If the new music is, well, new then isn't this sort of a problematic thing legal-wise? Unless tripwire is cool with it of course.

Tuesdays the traditional US release date, Fridays the traditional UK release date and I don't know about the rest of the world. Online stuff is kindly making it all the same day for a lot of releases though I think console games still pretty much always obey this rule?

It doesn't actually add the songs iirc, you have to get them from a separate place and install them to the folders it DOES add. There's been a Hotline Miami soundmod on the Workshop for months now which is basically the same thing.

Ledgy posted:Talking about music mods, I hope there'll be some kind of custom music integration. KF1 was one of the first games on Steam that supported Steam Workshop and we're going to support it for KF2. We're going to try to have it working by the time we do the full release of the game so people will be able to put their mutators, custom music and community maps/weapons/characters up on Workshop.

Actually, in-game custom music integration like audiosurf or crypt of the necrodancer would be pretty neat.

A thousand million times this. I've spent the past week thinking about songs I'd play while playing but I want them to stop when I get to the trader, etc. Without alt-tabbing or using the lovely Steam player there isn't a lot I can do for that.

My one disappointment with Killing Floor retail was losing the UT2k4 playback system, which just let you make playlists using whatever music you had on your computer. I always wondered why that feature didn't come in, given it was the same engine and all.
