The Asylum ripoff of 50 Shades of Grey, Bound, just went up. It's not good at all but stars Cordelia from Buffy. Her boobs are in the first ten seconds of the movie. Daniel Baldwin's boobs are also in the movie.

If it's less horror and more Western but with vampires that sounds rad actually. With a modern indie soundtrack? I could be down with that. Planning on finishing what's Ieft that I haven't seen for Luther and Sherlock soon. I know they are a few years old, but both decent crime dramas and sort of cinematic in scope; I feel more like I'm watching movies rather than police procedurals when I watch either of those shows.

That Bound is better in literally every way. In fact, just watch it twice instead of bothering with the other one.

Yeah we watched Bound last night and just tried to watch Bound (2015) and the latter isn't funny like it should be, it was just super boring. It's not like "the Sharknado of softcore porn". "The Sharknado of softcore porn" is Kink, which is also on Netflix.

Kink is the documentary with the lady who makes automated dildos for internet porn, right? I feel like that one could get a little crazier. Like, I'm sure those people make weirder poo poo than what they talked about in the film.

The accurate answer is also alliterative, so I'm surprised I slipped up. Make sense now? I'll be interested to hear the thoughts on non-critics when the movie hits VOD, it's been pretty divisive so far. I liked it whenever there was music playing, but quickly grew bored when it was silent. If you liked Only Lovers and want to see a version of that film without the dialogue, then dig-in. So, is Bound actually a good movie? It's the only Wach movie I'm yet to see, partly because it seems like it came from an alternate universe where they chose to ape De Palma instead of Ridley Scott.

It's pretty great, it has Jennifer Tilly at her absolute peak of Jennifer Tillyness and Gina Gershon is awesome. It's also a pretty sexy movie if you want to watch it with a boy/girl/whatever you're into.

The Canal is worth a watch. It's a little hit or miss in the execution, but overall I'd put it in the good end of Netflix horror. It actually gave me the heeby Jeebies a little bit which doesn't happen often. Definitely not as low rent as the cover art would indicate.

Chichevache posted:I still want to see the director's cut, but the final product is a pretty solid film. I don't know. I agree that it's solid, obviously, and I see and hear that a lot, but I always felt the version of Noah that we got wouldn't have gained much from more of anything. It completely flies in the face of the ideological subtext of the actual Noah myth in terms of man's right to and ownership of the world via some divine covenant. And like all Biblical adaptations, the material it actually covers is rather terse and minuscule by written design, a historical record rather than a subjective narrative, so there's considerable embellishment. The result is basically a post-apocalyptic fantasy. Noah is constrained by the nature of its source, so the more you stretch it, the more convoluted it inevitably gets. The makers of Noah did a remarkably good job of crafting an epic fantasy story that doesn't require nor expect any sequels, and where the ideological perspective is made refreshingly textual by the inclusion of God as an actual character. It's basically a movie about a nostalgia for religion, even including a virgin conception and interpolations of early Genesis myths but with some apocrypha and Midrash thrown in. It's a condensation of Judeo-Christian spiritual history, but one with a deliberate twist ending, where the daughters of God are two girls. K.
