Why couldn't the modeheim model work? A new fantasy setting in an obscure age or in the ruins of a world a thousand years after chaos won? Chaos is kinda like the tides. It is not impossible that conditions change and it is forced back north. WH Fantasy has always been kinda low magic...

It wouldn't work since there are no ruins (GW detonated the planet that Warhammer happens on) and, most importantly, there's no reason for whales to spend thousands of dollars on armies anymore in a skirmish game, which is GW's entire business model now.

I have spent thousands of dollars on a skirmish game. It's called Warmachine. Please GW say it was all just a dream! It can't All Be gone! How can I be a king of a war now in big awesome battles?? I legitimately cannot name any other game that ended so abruptly and sloppily. Even World of Darkness had multiple stories of how things "could have happened." Oh GW... Holding himself he ran to the chamber pot relieving himself furiously from all orifices as he thanked the gods it was all a dream...the beginning.

Can this be in hardback book for 50 dollars please? or just a novella! (The novella is limited print and 50 dollars too obviously) While we are on this topic why is there no news about wh fantasy plans? What madman does that to a setting then leaves anyone still interested hanging? Doctor Borris fucked around with this message at 22:47 on Apr 22, 2015 |

Games Workshop hates making money and thinks damaging its brand by leaving the future of the game in question is a sound business decision. EDIT: I mean, what are you plebs going to do? NOT buy jewel-like objects of magic and wonder? Play other games? There are no other games. Just ignore that confangled internet thing, and never buy miniatures from anywhere other than you local friendly Games Workshop store (which may or may not be within 100 miles of you). I just had a sad discussion with someone who thinks the new Eldar codex is a GOOD THING. I responded to this with this statement: "I wish 40K was good like it was back in 2nd ed. Smaller model counts, more tactical, a lot less imbalance." I got this in response. Note he is a CSM player primarily. Nurgle. The imbalance is a myth created by competitive players who run meta and don't actually practice. However he only started playing in 5th ed and now runs the gaming of the biggest nerd store in the region. But.. really? Armies aren't imbalanced? Its only competitive players and the meta? loving REALLY? I'm not even sure how to respond to this. I asked him to explain. Somehow I doubt he will be able to. This is what we are dealing with. (Edit: And Spacegoat is right. Post and learn and talk oldhammer in the thread he linked! And see his kickass 2nd ed Tyranids! He and SRM ought to get together and touch reality balls together with their armies!) Captain Rufus fucked around with this message at 02:20 on Apr 23, 2015 |

Captain Rufus posted:I just had a sad discussion with someone who thinks the new Eldar codex is a GOOD THING. Ah, sounds like a variation of one of my favorite 40K defenses: It is the players' fault if the game is imbalanced (because they're exploiting broken rules (and it is somehow not GW's fault for writing lovely rules in the first place)), but a particularly delusional variation that denies the imbalance even exists!

Saying loudly that they hate the prequels while singing the praises of even the worst crap the EU spawned is a pretty widespread cognitive dissonance among Star Wars fans. I'm still not really sure how it's cognitive dissonance. The EU and the prequels are both pulpy sci-fi trash, but the EU is fun pulpy sci-fi trash for the most part, whereas the prequels bore me to tears every time I try to rewatch them hoping they'll grow on me.
