No

You're going to buy it anyway, as am I, but please don't 100% it

Any of the games that function on two dimensions for the most part are perfectly fun and good, see: Harvest Moon 64, Paper Mario, Ogre Battle 64, Kirby 64, Mischief Makers, Goemon's Great Adventure. We just won't see most of them on VC unfortunately

Oh man I can't decide should I play a new Wii-U game or should I play Donkey Kong 64? Choices man so many choices, like downing a vial of cyanide or taking a bullet to the head.

Set up an Oculus Rift to do both at the same time, one in each eye and ear, with the feeds swapping at random 5-10 minutes so you don't develop a dominant eye or ear that tunes the other one out. Then take both cyanide and a bullet to the head.

If you try to connect a Wii-U to an occulus rift it winds up shorting the system because the pad is supposed to work in sync with the video output but the rift overrides that causing the pad to poo poo itself and the system locks up since the pad is not read as being present.

Even if you're using a classic controller the pad is still sending signals in the background. It's amazing how hosed the system is with the pad needing to be tethered to it, it's as bad a design choice as the kinect and the xbox one.

e: and if you have the choice, just get Donkey Kong Country 2. I grew up with DK64 and just finished Country 2, and I can tell you that even with my nostalgia blinders 2 is a far better game.

Ooookay... whoever decided escort missions were ever a good idea should be dragged out and shot with a Plasma beam.

So, Metroid Prime 3... did the stupid escort mission and got a bit trigger happy with Hyper Mode because gently caress escort missions. Down 4 energy tanks or so and the gauntlet of Pirate Commanders is just kicking my rear end. They take forever to kill and they can knock me out of Hyper Mode just about instantly. I do not want to have to do that escort mission again so help me not suck!

There's this whole big thing where you have to escort a bunch of marine demolition guys through the train yard. There's even a gold token that you can only get by not letting any of them die. I tried for that a few times before giving up because it's nonsense.

If you're not trying to do it perfectly though it's not that hard so I don't know what advice I can give.

You mean the one on the pirate homeworld with all of the GF soldiers? It's been a while, but can't you use the xray beam on the pirate commandos to target a weak spot and insta kill them with the nova beam (you can do that to the metroid hatcher, just to save you some time down the road)?

Yeah that's the one! I tried using the X-ray visor but every time I tried, it would get overloaded(?). I think that's what was happening. My view would be nothing but a bunch of static. Didn't know that about the Metroid Hatchers, either, but I haven't had a huge problem with them.

I did actually manage to beat the Pirate Commander (and the next boss while I was at it). What I did was go into Hyper Mode and pick off all his little friends, then I constantly bunny hopped and circle strafed around the big man himself, constantly shooting him. He went down eventually but he didn't blow up or anything. He just started glowing red and then my buddies showed up. Didn't seem like a terribly elegant solution. I'd love to know how I could do it better!

(For reference I'm playing on Vetreran difficulty.)

Gamestop's used retro system prices leaked. Nintendo 64 is the most expensive Nintendo system Followed by the NES and the SNES. N64 is about 90 dollars used, NES is 80 and SNES is 75.

The Wii is more expensive than the Gamecube and a used gamecube is around 30 bucks. Gamestop knows what will actually move, retro stores actually have problems keeping the N64 in stock because it's so in demand and was not made in such numbers like the Playstation and Playstation 2 and Playstation3(all of which play Playstation 1 games).

I guess you could say the N64 was the true successor to the NES, a ton of lovely garbage games in it's library, but the select few ugly looking gems are fondly remembered for eons and are worshiped by a bunch of raving loons.

If you didn't think the origjnal Xenoblade was anime looking you had to have been blind. It was way more anime looking than all three Xenosaga games.

No the original Xenoblade was on par with Tales of Xillia as far as anime went which means it was dangeriously anime.

Xenoblade X looks weird because instead of having eye textures for eyes like in the original Xenoblade the eyes are part of the rig and they really didn't do the whole 3d anime guy face right. Namco does the 3d anime guys good as does Sega, but somehow they hosed it up.

How did no one tell them at any point in development that it didn't look good though?

I guess I'm not far enough in Xenoblade for it to be extremely full of anime tropes, I'm just to the Leg. So far I'm enjoying some of the original ideas like living on a giant titan as sort of its immune system, and being attacked by a competing Titan's immune system?

I have no idea what the gently caress "anime" is supposed to mean in a world where people say that late Final Fantasy and Persona is Not Anime.

"anime" is typically shorthand for "this is actively insulting my intelligence" (see: FFXIII) or "this is not how people act in any situation, ever, realistic or otherwise" (again, see FFXIII)

Xenoblade doesn't start doing that until about 70-80% of the way through the game. Until then we're treated to characters acting in a relatively believable manner to their situations with natural cause and effect style storytelling and frankly excellent worldbuilding.

please explain how the gently caress Xenoblade is not anime.

Like saying poo poo oh it has a "mature" storyline or "oh I see no girl butts" does not denote a lack of anime. Anime is a visual stylistic choice, which xenoblade clearly is. Like gently caress if Xenoblade isn't an anime game than Ys certainly isn't either.
