Who never hurt anyone. ANYONE. The other part of me recognizes that a clean, well-executed scheme like this is not something that’s easy to pull off. Great colors. Consistent shading. Smooth blue. Subtle yet clear highlights. The battle damage and paint chips are a bonus. Well done!

Speed painting!
How fast can you paint one model? AFTER your oath is approved, take two pictures with the worldtimeserver.com website clearly in the background of your picture: one at the start of your painting session with your single-color model, and one at the end of your painting session with a completed model! The base does not need to be done to be called 'completed', but remember that if all your models are based you do get a point for basing. The time stamps on the worldtimeserver.com site must be within 24 hours of each other. No extra points for quickest painting time! That would be too hard to prove without video.

I am thankful the base is not included in the speed part. I will finish that bit by the end of the month for the full complete post with my journals, but for proof that they are in fact done now they are:

Weathering- Heat-stressed barrels

I think it looks a bit busy, but it works with my other night-lord color scheme I have going.

Also my phone washes out everything. I'll be happy when my girlfriend's birthday gets here and she opens that camera I bought her. It just so happens to have a decent macro and wifi sharing :ninja: ...

I find the Minitaire starter set to be really delightful. I got it about 7 months ago and it's really given me a good reference on the consistency to thin my other paints to to shoot them through my airbrush(es). I really recommend them if you're looking for some starter airbrush paints or just some really nice, thin, glaze colors. Been playing around with their Ghost Tints too after seeing Tom Schadle's results with them, lots of fun even if I can't find a use for all the colors in the range yet.

So here's something annoying: Being done with your pledge, thinking you can claim one of the previous Jurnals, and then realizing that NOPE it doesn't actually apply.

Added greenstuff to a model, but it's not hair, like so:

Namely thinking of the one front and two the right: added two strips of cloth to Tiet-Khebi's blades when I realized that the two stupid kopesh refused to stay glued to the hands. Also had to replace the feet of one model (they shattered, front left)) and replace the feather of another (I lost it :v: , right in the middle). Also had to use greenstuff later on to fix another model's hand to it's arm later (back left)

WOULD I be right in guessing that does not, in fact, apply to the "It's time to grow some hair" Jurnal?

I need to see if I can get some free time this weekend to do something else!

The slightest touch from a Gol-Shogeg will result in Instant Death!
Oath Complete!

Please excuse the terrible photos, my lightbox is packed away at the moment as we're having some work done on our ceilings, even if it didn't need completely rewiring.

Jurnal: Double Quadruple trouble
June: Custom base The base size for this guy was a little larger than 25mm so I made this base myself out of 3mm plywood which I turned round with a drill and chisel. The boring tile floor is done with cut-up card.
July: OSL The sword is glowing, I promise. For those who know FR lore, it's Faervian.
September: Cut and Swap Neither the sword nor the shield (nor indeed the base) is from the original mini.
January: Freehand The shield emblem.

Also, I can't manage all for one, as I've already given the elf ranger from July away, but here's All But One (including my failed oath from October) in case it's useful.

Again, a bit :effort: this month, much of which is due to the aforementioned building works.

THE RESERVED LIST! THE RESERVED LIST! I CANNOT SHUT UP ABOUT THE RESERVED LIST!
OATH COMPLETE

First some work in progress photos:

"Hmm... Interesting look, but I don't think Ronald McDonald's warband is recruiting."

"Let's get some pink and flesh tones in there... looking better already..."

"And add in some bone and metal and other stuff. Almost done!"

The end result:

Next season I'm gonna figure out my lighting, I promise

For Jurnal, you can practically take your pick:

Work in Progress pictures - obvious
Customized Base - I added puddles of a reddish-brown liquid to the battlefield. This started when I accidentally dropped a blob of wash on the base, but ended up liking it and deciding to try rolling with it.
Pink - layered/lined on this for the raw-flesh look over most of the model
Dirt and Weathering - scorching on the melta barrels
Freehanding - much of the muscle fibers were freehanded on, probably most visible on the large smooth areas of the back

Some of these are a bit of a stretch, but #1 and #4 should get me the jurnal no matter what.

Finally, ALL FOR ONE

May - 6 Druids of Orboros
June - Trojan Swordsman, two Basti Gamers, Demigod of Hades, and Bronze Owl
July - 5 Space Wolves, 3 Terror Tots
August - Golem
September - Thousand Sons chaos space marine
October - Sanguinary Guard
November - Chaos Obliterator
December - Black Legion chaos space marine
January - Another Thousand Son, a Thousand Sons sorceror, and a chaos space marine with a rock
February - 9 skeleton archers, a mummy lord, and a random warlock
March - Nathavarr the dragon and a dragon-slaying warrior
April - Helbrute ... c'mon, I'm not going to link to this post (mostly because I haven't made it yet). Stop being lazy and just scroll up.

In Battle!

Strike a Pose

Jarl Surtson had surged on ahead to slay the feeble Norman war-lord. To defend his lord's flank Thorri stood alone on the battle field, his fellow beserks having been slayed earlier in the furious battle. Thorri knew his life was at an end, but he also knew it would be a glorious end. The songs would tell of his defense of his Jarl and how he faced four mounted and armored foes with only his sword and his unbridled fury. He would die today, but he would feast in Valhalla tonight.

We have albums going for both the US-based and the UK-based prize pots! So here's who you will contact for your choice of prize:

If you live in North America, you are choosing from Iris of Ether's prize pot.
If you live in Europe, you are choosing from Krushgroove's prize pot.
If you live anywhere else, you may choose from either prize pot.

Krushgroove's Prize Pot
Please contact Krushgroove! Here is his prize pool:

Thanks again to everyone who donated! If you're drawing from Iris's pot you should pick both a 'small' prize and a 'big' prize! In general, that means one prize equal to a GW box set and one prize equal to 1-3 solo minis. 'Gimme a big hit from the box of Bones' counts as a valid choice, by the way. There's so much loot that there's still gonna be a huge end-of-year prize left over from this, even with being this generous.

OATH COMPLETE

Jurnal
June: Customize your model base
August: Non-metalic Metal
January: Freehand
February: Break the fourth wall

June is the dragon's, who's now got a hoard of gold!
August is all of the rubies and sapphires
Janurary just has the crest on link's shield
February follows purple link and our undead pirate, based on purple link and Kaptain K. Rool's colourschemes.

All for one!

Two gators, a Wrastler, Rhoven & honour guard, and a Vassal mechanic!
Blessing of Vengeance, Monolith Bearer, a Sand Worm and a Succubus!
Knight Errant Flagbearer, three daughters of the flame, a converted Vassal of Menoth, The Hierophant, and Feora, Protector of the Flame!
Severius, two daughters of flame, Roxor, a human Pyro Mage, A human barbarian, a glamourless elven ranger, a tiefling rogue, and a human sorceress!
Anyssa Ryvaal and a Daughter of Flame!
Feora, Priestess of the flame! The covenant of Menoth, and a human paladin!
Nephilim Bloodseer
THE ARCHANGEL!
Wrong Eye and snapjaw, Epic Absylonia, Gatorman Witchdoctor, and Rask!
Jaga-Jaga, The Death Charmer!
Three treasure chests, the happiest human? an robotic snake and an popgun puppet gunman!
A Hoarding Dragon, an elven hero, a dark elf assassin, an undead pirate, and kobold wizard!

Unfortunately, THE ARCHANGEL, the sand worm, and the succubus were unable to make it into the group shot as THE ARCHANGEL is on display at my hobby shop and the other two were painted as gifts and are currently with their new owners. Everyone else is well accounted for, however!

And also, Thank you again Batchtere! That got me out of nowhere; I did not expect to get any judgements for her. She was so much fun to paint though, and I'm glad you liked the base! I tried to texture it like shedded snake skin might and I try to find an excuse to use water effects in new and wonderful ways whenever it fits a model and it worked this time!

Oath Complete!

Ok, here we go. In the end, I went for 3 Work-In-Progress pictures!, We need a nametag over here!, and, with Krush's blessing, It's time to grow some hair!

Let's start with a full picture and then move on from there:

6 figures, 8 tokens. Now for more pictures!

Tiet-Khebi, front right: Green Stuff to affix swords to hands
Frigge, Middle: replacing lost feather
Bjarhvvit, front left: covered shattered feet. They used to be BARE feet but they kinda broke apart.

more work in progress:

At THIS point I had to affix Zhara's spear arm to her hand using green stuff to make a crude bracelet. Far left

As for the freehand, which came in later:

closeups:

(Pre-freehand, forgot to take a new solo one)

And because it's never too late for getting points: All For One

Does that mean I don't get the job?
:siren:Oath Complete!:siren:

For this month's journal, Double Trouble, I went with both OSL (July) and Freehand (January) on the librarian with the banner.

Time for some end-of-the-season last minute achievement grabbing!

Strike a Pose!

Sel didn't like his job very much. Pressured into service by a jerk of an Inquisitor, given some beat-down hunk of adamantine some people called a shield and a chipped power sword that only barely worked, he often found himself thrust into the midst of a raging combat. Those days were fine, as it was at least a break from the boredom of looking after unit MS-101 and its never-ending stream of binary.

"01100001 01101100 01101100 00100000 01110011 01101001 01100100 01100101 01110011 00100000 01100011 01101100 01100101 01100001 01110010 "

"Do you ever shut up?" Sel sighed, chewing on the unlit end of his lho-stick.

"01001001 00100000 01100001 01101101 00100000 01101110 01101111 01110100 00100000 01110000 01110010 01101111 01100111 01110010 01100001 01101101 01101101 01100101 01100100 00100000 01110100 01101111 00100000 01110011 01101000 01110101 01110100 00100000 01110101 01110000"

"Ugh."

All For One! As it's the end of the oath season, I'll toss up the models I've done for oaths! Some of them were commissions, mind, so everything past the group shots are those I couldn't add to the pile. Krushgroove clarified this back in May of last year and it's totally kosher to do.

Below is the models I have access to.

Commissions

Elf Bloodbowl team, May

Fire Elemental, June

Dark Age models, July

Dark Age and Malifaux models, August

Ork, Wizard, and Familiar, September

Lizardman Bloodbowl team, November

Dakkajet, March

Links to all the finished oaths!

September
October
November
December
January
February
March
And April is in this post!

All in all I've painted about 120 models for the Oath thread. This isn't counting other models I've done that I didn't oath, but it's safe to say these make up the bulk of the models for the past 12 months!
