If there was some sort of quality control, sure. And there's the way some Skyrim mods require other Skyrim mods to work. Also mod makers only get 25% of the revenue, and that's only if they hit a certain sales number each month(?).

like in the grand scheme of things it's a pretty meaningless dumb thing. but anyone trying to pretend that this is meant to be some great boon to modders to totally give them the fair compensation they deserve (questionable at best for like 95% of mods to begin with) can eat a dick because this is a pretty transparent money grab by Steam. It's really loving weird too, like isn't Steam wildly successful beyond their possible dreams at the get go. I assume they are making money hand over fist for being nothing but a glorified digital library for video games, so why push such a sketchy and controversial thing down people's throats now? Did gabe develop a crippling gambling addiction?

its gonna be interesting to see what happens now that money is involved considering a good portion of mods in a lot of games are some autist assembling a humdred smaller mods and putting their name on it or someone with no art talent just stealing a bunch of copyrighted artwork or pulling textures from copyrighted photographs
