I liked Rayman Legends because every time I thought I hit the end of the content, more unlocked, and it just kept happening. That game has a whole lot of poo poo to do in it.

I've still not played Rayman Legends but Rayman Origins remains my favorite 2D platformer of all time to this day so if Legends is even better everyone should totally play it.

You're steam anime surprise http://store.steampowered.com/app/345820/ Genies are vulcans, apparently It's WayForward's anime indie pixel art platformer metroidvania series, Shantae. In this steam version it seems you get the original 400x240 3DS pixel graphics blown up to your screen resolution, with the bonus of high-res interface and character art, and the loss of the 3D effect. icantfindaname posted:wow dude that's hosed up, implying you liked the hentai featured there. gross

Lurdiak posted:You can, it's just Hollywood that can't. That creepy hero worship of the soldiers always seeps into the final product for some reason. War movies don't have creepy hero worship. like creepy isn't even the right word. The only war movie I ever saw that made me feel uncomfortable was Pearl harbor and that was because I really needed to go to the bathroom and the dolittle raid really wasn't needed and felt just tacked on. But it was another 45 minutes of watching the screen and seeing nothing happen. and boy did I need to piss. gently caress you Michael Bay and if you think Hollywood movies are bad you should read the Greek Classics or watch Samurai films. "hero worship" is a basic part of any generic story, you need a hero and you need reasons to like him/her. This is just basic story telling, the more complex ones are the anti-heroes or things like that. There have been made up and real stories of war ever since civilization began because you know what? War is pretty loving interesting, exciting and entertaining so having be set as a backdrop for a story makes perfect sense. Because a good a story should be interesting, exciting, and entertaining. Now a good story doesn't really need war, but war is a pretty safe bet. The Taint Reaper fucked around with this message at 11:22 on Apr 27, 2015 |

At least it was well timed, for myself in particular. I really enjoyed the mechanics and Nemesis system... but by that point I didn't know how much further they could stretch it. At least, without adding more mechanics. I still haven't revisited the DLC, is it worthwhile?

I have yet to play the DLC myself, but one promises more Dwarf bro time, so that's a plus already. I will give a trip report when i do get to it. probably tonight.

Are there any ARPGs (not roguelikes, played enough of those for now) that have some kind of endless mode where you can just play forever as difficulty and loot quality ramps up and the only thing stopping you is your skill level? Marvel Heroes doesn't, Diablo 3 has quests I know but last time I played that was 'do these five things and get a box of stuff'.

Pierson posted:Are there any ARPGs that have some kind of endless mode where you can just play forever Path of Exile seems like its up your alley if you can see past the diablo 2 clone to the complex systems underneath. I think those systems didnt quite hit perfect, but its essentially an endless ARPG in the D2 vein. Also, Torchlight 2 had stuff where you could run randomized dungeons and get maps to new ones. I liked it enough to beat it, but didnt really get into those before moving on. They're not the same type of constant level scaling of mobs, but the content does continue to scale. The big deal now is Greater Rifts which are exactly what you're describing. They start at level 1 and currently the top players are around level 60 I think, and they can continue indefinitely.

Alain Post posted:I think the context of the "you can't make an anti-war movie" quote was more that war almost always looks viscerally exciting on-screen. Yeah pretty much this. I mean look at Fury and American Sniper. Both are two incredibly well done war movies even though one is more plot driven and the other is character driven. And stories for games are mostly going to revolve around a single guy for stuff like Call of Duty because the game itself is single player and they're not really going to pour the resources into changing the story scenes to fit a co-op situation. Like the story has to fit the gameplay mechanics. Hell Dark Souls and Bloodborne are the same way because it's just you a single person who is playing through it. So everything is going to ofcourse revolve around you and what you're doing. The Taint Reaper fucked around with this message at 19:12 on Apr 27, 2015 |
