are you supposed to actually see the hidden video or is it in the slider thingy only?

every 5 seconds in the normal vid you see the quick flash of the hidden video, its meant to just take advantage of where youtube will sample frames from the vid to make up the slider previews

you can occasionally catch the frames.

whoever uploaded it knew which frames would be processed by the slider thingy and implanted the "video" there

units sold in means the manufacturer/publisher sells them to retailers, you sell them "in" to the market. like samsung will sell a fridge for wholesale price to best buy to stock it. best buy might pay 75% of the retail price, so samsung will get MSRP * .75 for that fridge. best buy pays .75x to samsung.

sold through means sold through to the end-user, the customer / gamer. best buy gets 1x from the custom for the fridge and it is counted as sold through.

it's why you see headlines like "Call of Duty ships 10 million units day 1!" instead of "Call of Duty sells 10 million units day 1!" you can't count sell-in as a "Sale" since it's still in the market and at some point you either have to discount it or buy it back and that gets lots of fun with retail marketing funds and all kinds of great stuff.

if a thing was only available during one calendar year, you would say it sold x units in that year

if a thing was available for multiple years, you would say it sold x units through the last/latest year

okay, so maybe i was wrong. fine. here's an amusing anecdote about what gets shipped versus what gets sold to customers:

The album was entitled Here's Johnny: Magic Moments from The Tonight Show and it was released in November 1974. Although the album was certified gold by the RIAA for shipments to stores of over 500,000 copies, the album did not sell well, and returns from retailers of unsold copies were high. Even the promotional copies were returned, initiating the joke that "it shipped gold and went back to the label platinum".

(although i had originally heard this about the kiss albums where they released one for each member of the band)

from a different site:

(There's the old industry joke that an album "shipped gold and returned platinum," which, come to think of it, first made the rounds in describing the fate of the four KISS solo albums in 1978! Actually, all four of those albums were certified platinum, which seems inflated, though "shipped platinum and returned double platinum" isn't as funny.)

http://courts.delaware.gov/opinions/download.aspx?ID=217650

the whole thing is pretty funny

quote:

Implied in the Complaint is that the Plaintiff made an unsolicited proposal involving Star Wars marketing to Disney. He was then contacted by someone at Disney to arrange a conference call scheduled for July 22, 2014... The Complaint is somewhat unclear as to what happened next, but it appears that... Chapek’s executive assistant, a Disney paralegal, or a “nameless Disney attorney” called or emailed the Plaintiff and stated that Disney was not interested in his proposal.

According to the Plaintiff, participating in the July 22 telephone call represented a change in Disney’s prior policy not to accept unsolicited proposals, which he took as a guarantee that his proposal would be accepted.9

quote:

See id. ¶ 25 (“The Walt Disney Corporation created an implied contract with the plaintiff when it changed its own policy against accepting unsolicited submissions by a third party. The plaintiff can infer an implied promise based on circumstances that exist in the ordinary course of dealing and common understanding. Why even take the teleconference call on July 22, 2014 if there were not mutual agreement that this campaign would be successful for the Disney Corporation? There is an often used mathematical principle to solve difficult theorems: to prove something, disprove the opposite (See Euclid’s proof on the infinity of prime numbers)”)
