I'd like to imagine that it's at least possible in theory for those kittens to actually all be sleeping in that at the same time, but I fear that in practice, at any one time at least one of those fuckers is going to be kicking off, and that of course then cascades to neighbouring cells, and the whole concept just falls apart.

The kitten in the middle is the only one not swatting at someone/being swatted at. Being the middle child truly sucks. ()

quote:Tycho/Refurb chat You guys are too nice I guess this counts towards the uplifting side of this thread - I'm in the process of getting 501(c)3 non-profit status so I can open a shop that gives 100% of proceeds to groups that help rescue animals. I've already got a couple awesome artists who have volunteered to donate art/designs. It'll start as a Tycho/Refurb thing, but will be more geared towards "refurbished" pets in general as time goes on.

Went back to try and find it. Saw wombats, otters, a picture by the same artist of a mosasaur... COuldn't find the fatbirds. Fortunately, I saved the links. E: the artist is also making a pretty great point about how we interpret skeleton-only fossils. And it's the One Punch Man guy.

thespaceinvader posted:E: the artist is also making a pretty great point about how we interpret skeleton-only fossils. **BUZZKILL ALERT** How fossils are extrapolated into fully-fleshed animals is the work of paleobiologists, anatomists and the like. They use what we know about living animals and how their musculature, fat, etc. relates to their skeletons to figure out the most likely configuration for the fossils that are found.

It should be noted that that layer of accuracy is still relatively young, as I'm only in my 30s and old enough to remember when it was controversial that people thought T-Rexes didn't stand straight up but rather were hunched, in what is now a very obviously bird-like posture.
