Ok gotcha I suppose it's make sense to have different headphones for the gym. Do you have any recommendations for IEMs in that price range in general? I just want to avoid paying that much for good sound but something that breaks easily.

My coworkers' chewing is irritating/driving me insane. Budget - < $175 Source - Work Computer/phone Isolation Requirements - I'll be using these at work, so fairly high. Preferred Type of Headphone - I severely dislike IEMs. Preferred Tonal Balance - I'm not sure. Past Headphones - I have Phillips Fidelio X2 headphones at home. Preferred Music - Moody bassy stuff and some electronic. Please and thank you!

Google Butt posted:I ordered a pair of beyerdynamic dt 770 250ohm on accident, meant to order the 32ohm version... instead of returning them I ordered the FiiO e11k to drive them. Coming from a pair of hd280s that I've had for years. You'll probably find the bass a bit heavy at first. The highs are a bit crisp. But, the 770's are so clean on lows, they're a great improvement over the 280s. Subjective experience: Had HD280's before and now use 250ohm 770s driven by a Little Dot MKIII amp. No interest in trying new phones cause I'm so happy with the 770s, fwiw.

Get them replaced for free. Secondly, I've hady pair for 7 months and have been rather rough with them, they're still kicking. Thirdly, more money does not equal higher durability, the iems that I've had the longest lifespans with have been cheapos. Outside of that the only caveat I have with recommending the M6 is that their fit can suck for some people. They're $20 headphones that have lasted me through some abuse and they lasted my ex through even worse abuse. The only thing I'd consider buying a more expensive iem for would be for a detachable cable, but many don't have sweat resistance so that makes them risky for gym use.

My wife does voiceover work at home, and I'd like to buy her some good headphones so she can listen to herself. I'd like to imagine that I could get some studio or other kind of professional headphones for her, and I'm looking for suggestions. Will happily get her a DAC too if that is a good idea in any way. I'm pretty blank when it comes to this, but there has got to be better options than Koss Porta Pros for this kind of work. Budget - < $200 Source - Consumer laptop, or recommend me a DAC Isolation Requirements - Probably high. Preferred Type of Headphone - Some sort of studio or pro, over ear. Preferred Tonal Balance - Good for listening to female speech. Past Headphones - Currently using Koss Porta Pros. Preferred Music - Not really relevant, but she does love rock.

Thanks I appreciate the list, it's hard to tell what lists are reputable these days. I think I will probably go with the Hifiman re400 due to the price, isolation, sound quality and the fact that I listen to hip hop mostly and like a certain amount of bass.

Long term Beats Solo 2 summary: I really like these headphones. They have a very nice sound to them without over powering bass. I never heard a previous generation of Beats headphones to compare them; but everything I read before purchasing says they are miles ahead of previous iterations. They are comfortable for a decent amount of time, and I only occasionally flip them off for 30 second or so to "air out" my ears. The cable is pretty nice, and doesn't twist up as long as you untwist it before using them from the case. The volume/pause/play buttons work great but I have not tested the mic quality yet. I listen to a wide variety of music, and they seem to shine at just about everything I've put threw them, but are really great for hip-hop, r&B and EDM. Are they worth $200? I'm not sure about that, as I could never personally spend $200 for a pair of headphones, but I feel like the $140 I paid was a very nice price for them. TL;DR : Beats Solo 2 are very good on ear headphones and you should buy them if that's your thing.

Any recommendations for great isolation for around $60? I'm trying to convince a friend that he doesn't need noise cancelling to block out children on the bus (especially at that price range).

I play a lot of single player console games, and listen to music or netflix on my pc at the same time. I currently own a Skullcandy Plyr 1 wireless headset. Both my PS4, and PC, are connected to the wireless Plyr amp, and both sources play in the headset simultaneously. I would like to find a wired amp that can also play from multiple inputs simultaneously, so I can use different cans. Anyone know of an amp that can accomplish this? Bonus points if it has a Toslink input.

Is it even possible that my 770/e11k combo sound better when listening through my phone (htc m7) in comparison to my ddj-sx or plugged straight into my computer? Or is my brain playing a trick on me. Using the same tracks on both, 320 and flac. I'm trying to not go down the audiophile hole, just curious because I don't know poo poo about dacs.

Budget - $150 Source - DAC Isolation Requirements - Somewhat, they're for home office use, it is a shared space. Preferred Type of Headphone - Over ear Preferred Tonal Balance - Balanced, cover a lot of ground genre wise. Past Headphones - Sennheiser HD 555s for years until space shared- they're open and people can hear me way off and I may as well use speakers, Steel Series Siberia are a bit more private but suck for anything but gaming. Preferred Music - 70s r&b, 80s glam rock, 90s ska, 00s indie rock, working on mixing . Hence, something balanced.

Anyone know how reliable Schiit is with their shipping times and order processing in general? I'm going to the US for a business trip for a period of about 2 weeks and I wanna pick up the Schiit stack and get them shipped to the hotel. It'll save me a bunch of money from shipping charges + brokerage in getting them shipped to Canada. I email'd them regardless, but just wanted to know actual end-user experiences.

I'm not sure why but I seem to be killing my headphones super fast lately, like 4-5 months before the right ear piece and remote control/mic stop working (this has consistently been the problem all of them had). I'm guessing it's down to pulling a wire loose or damaging it somewhow? This has been a thing more or less since I moved to a tropical country and no longer had a jacket pocket to have my phone and headphones in. Does anyone have any tips on prolonging their life? Or any recommendations on tougher earphones?

You're talking about earphones/buds/IEMs right? That's pretty much the reason I try not to spend too much on them nowadays. They pretty much break eventually if you're not careful and they're hard to repair/re-cable. My only advice is to use the cases they provide so as to prevent fraying wires, etc. My Xiaomi Pistons are still going strong, but if they break I'm only out $25.

I'm currently stuck choosing between B&O H8s, H6s, and B&W P7s, but I'm open to anything that fits my criteria. I want to find something that can handle any genre of music. The most important feature for me is sound quality (as good as closed headphones can get) over anything else. Noise cancellation is just a bonus if it doesn't interfere with quality. These will mostly be used for home listening with some office and travel use as well. Budget - $500 Source - PC and iPhone, possibly DAC Isolation Requirements - Closed Preferred Type of Headphone - Over-ear or on-ear, trying to move away from earbuds/IEMs Preferred Tonal Balance - Balanced, not too strong (i.e. Beats) on the low end, but also not weak Past Headphones - Etymotic earphones, generic earbuds Preferred Music - Can handle anything thrown at it and can pick up on low frequencies in ambient music and the highs and lows in field recordings

The Chinese bluetooth earphones are actually pretty good for the price. (they're $30) I picked up the Soundpeats QY7 a couple of weeks ago from Amazon and it's probably the best bang for your buck. Granted, audio quality isn't my priority when it comes to headphones for working out but these sound alright. Audio quality is decent and it has amazing battery life. Other than that, there's the JayBird Bluebuds, but they're like $100+ last time I checked.
