Been trying to get Powerslave to run, got it working to an extent in dosbox but you can't rebind any of the controls and it only plays at a tiny resolution (basically unplayable) and the first person hands/weapons flicker constantly.

There should be a setup program that will let you rebind the controls, and raise the resolution (though only up to 640x480). I don't know what to do about the flickering, though.

As mentioned above, Samsara has the Cleric in it's roster, with some of the Warrior and Mage's arsenal to boot. You could also give Shadows of Chronos a try, since it's a Hexen iwad that should have better level design. Strength: YES

Woolie Wool posted:The laser sight trades fire rate for accuracy. It basically has the same purpose as the burst mode for the SMG. As for your suggestion, the mode switching and the slight delay inherent in it is a core mechanic so I'm not going to do anything to it. That's understandable. One more minor thing, though: it's a pet peeve of mine when weapons have burst fire but the bursts don't divide evenly into the magazine size. Could you make the machine pistol hold 21 rounds instead of 20?

Perhaps, but then I'd get the choice of making the ammo capacity no longer divisible by the magazine capacity or lose 200/400 as the nice round ammo capacity numbers in favor of 210/420.

I found a post TerminX made about the original iOS Duke3D port:TerminX posted:It appears Machineworks NorthWest farmed them out to some guy who developed a renderer used in a lot of mobile shovelware games, and he pretty much got the game barely rendering and decided he was done. All of the sound effects are converted into .wav files at the wrong sample rates so nothing in the game sounds correct (they also sound like they get played one at a time through system sound APIs meant for notification sounds), none of the on-screen sprite rendering is hooked up correctly (there's not even a health or ammo display correctly implemented, just a cheap indicator bar that appears to draw a pixel or two for every point of health the player has), the controls are unworkable to the point of being nearly completely unplayable, tile animation speeds are screwed up and animating tiles frequently just vanish, the weapon firing rates are all wrong because the actual weapon firing occurs from a callback from the input thread rather than from the main thread and dictated by the game timer, etc. EDIT: Someone in the same thread also linked to this. J2ME/BREW was a bad place for games that weren't by Id Mobile, wasn't it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrysYg19jC4 The Kins fucked around with this message at 15:02 on May 2, 2015 |

So, my wife and I play on a goon-run Minecraft server from time to time (Limecraft, which is here), and I usually get bored after I build my house. So, I decided to undertake something that I've always wanted to do. I take it I don't need to tell you all what this is. It's not finished yet, and I have yet another classic FPS idea for what will be found behind the door at the end of the industrial hallway.

The original soundclip is iconic but it doesn't loop very well and it sounds really out of place when used in a game where you -aren't- firing as wildly as the marines were in the movie. But then, if you aren't firing that wildly, maybe there's just something wrong with the game. I thought it sounded fine in the context of a Doom mod.

I'm pretty sure that AvP2 and 3 actually did record new pulse rifle sounds, but everyone freaked out about them and modded in the same effect from the movie.

So DemonSteele owns but it doesn't work super well with the original maps. I know that there aren't any mappacks designed with DS in mind yet, but what are some already existing mappacks that work well with it? I played a bit of Going Down with it last night and had a lot of fun.

To gain entry to the building, Carmack concocted a sticky substance of thermite mixed with Vaseline that melted through the windows. However, an overweight accomplice struggled to get through the hole, and opened the window, setting off a silent alarm and alerting police. John was arrested, and sent for psychiatric evaluation (the report mentions 'no empathy for other human beings' and describes Carmack as 'a brain on legs'). Carmack was then sentenced to a year in a juvenile home. I should read Masters of Doom, I guess.

Oh! Forgot to mention this, TerminusEst13, the idle animations in Demonsteele are a thing of wonder. I really got a kick out of the shadow warrior classic one! Does that sentinel appear anywhere in Scythe 2? I played through it and I couldn't find it. Also, Modes of Destruction with BtSX is amazing fun. All the attention to detail is fantastic, and I especially love the explosive and plasma deaths. I noticed a small bug in MoD though: If you're running at a non-16:9 resolution and not using a fullscreen hud, the score counter gets chopped off. I played DemonSteele so much on it during testing and development it's not even funny. Then again it's my personal favorite mapset SO I MAY BE SLIGHTLY BIASED. Brotherhood of Ruin is great if you wanted more temples and ruins, seven maps of it. The Eye is just loving crazy. It's only one level, but dear God what a level it is. Impossible: A New Reality is also only one level, and is a little light on enemies, but it's a real mind-bender.
