big scary monsters posted:my guess is, it depends most of the older platforms don't really have drivers, and they just talk directly to hardware. this is possible because for these old machines the hardware is all the same. for pc this is not the case anymore, so i think that it's not realistic to expect a group to code demo's direct to the hardware. directx is the platform now (or opengl or w/e)
