One big area where this gets restricted is your "first" real education because that one is considered too entwined with your personal live instead of your income generation. (Also because the state would lose a lot of money if people could deduct their entire costs for university. While we don't have fees, it would be a lot of money from living expenses and materials for going university that could be carried forward until you actually have a job where you earn enough to deduct it.)
