Removed one of the regulators from our 150lb bottle right as I was inhaling so I got enough of a dose to burn my throat for a bit and spent most of the day feeling like I had a rock on my chest, but it's cleared up now. Why in god's name do you have 150lb bottles of chlorine gas? e. I guess it's got industrial uses. That's still unusually terrifying. Safety Dance posted:Why in god's name do you have 150lb bottles of chlorine gas? To chlorinate our water system, duh Realtalk (and I can't remember the math off the top of my head so don't hold me 100% to this), I think we use ~1lb or so a day. We usually run 2 bottles side by side so we have right around a year's worth of gas hooked up at any given time. Lately one of our regulators hasn't been feeding, hence us taking it off to check it and me getting a lovely dose of gas. e: I think they're 150lb bottles. 150 or 130, somewhere in that general vicinity.

Fo3 posted:That's retarded advice to give to everyone. I certainly think everyone is different wrt metabolism. That was general advice. I'm sorry if it seemed patronizing or attacking - that was not my intention. I actually don't recommend eating less often at all. In fact, I recommend the opposite. Eat small portions more often to keep your metabolism up during the day. It's not very wise to fast until 5 o clock and then pig out on carbs or something, of course that's going to end poorly. In your case, it might just be that you needed even more exercise to help burn off your excess weight. I 10000000% understand where you are coming from man, believe me. It just took me a long time to realize that I had to commit to eating healthy and working out a bit more than I would like but if you want to see a real change you need to critically evaluate what is and is not working for you. To be perfectly honest with you I see a lot of people who "eat right" who are straight up lying to themselves. I am certainly NOT saying this applies to you but its a disturbingly common theme I keep seeing with friends and acquaintances. If you are happy in life being you and maintaining a weight, I think that's great. Feeling good about yourself is what matters.

I could probably toss together an old Celeron or Pentium for like $50. I know my software of choice (Telegard) won't run under XP without a huge fight. I know Synchronet is still an on again/off again development, but I always preferred WWIV-based software (TG, Renegade, etc). A couple of our HP models here at work still have serial ports, and the rest have a header on the system board for an add-on. That 7700 you bought should have the header for a serial port, and I'm pretty sure it'll run Win2K. I'd probably just run Win2K in emulation inside of Win 7. You might be able to get away with a USB-serial adapter. Maybe. Music: I listen to all sorts of crap: some pop. lots of classic rock and "hard rock" a little metal (I don't like screaming or the guttural growling poo poo - I'm really digging the band fronted by an operatically trained singer, whose name I just forgot), various forms of electronica, particularly Outrun Electro lately, big band on occasion, movie soundtrack music (if you want movie music that's not actually attached to a movie, look up Two Steps From Hell, and even my secret shame, Abba and Yanni, from time to time. Michael Bolton is still a no-talent rear end-clown, though. And he's playing the damned sax wrong (at least, according to my sax-playing former roommate.) Oh, and some classical. Well, doors open at 5:30. Venue is at the far other end of the metroplex (far west Ft. Worth). Looks like a bit over an hour drive. Think I'm going to hit the road now, before rush hour gets TOO bad. Darchangel posted:I've got a couple of the db25-DB9 here at work, and maybe one or two at home, I think. The 7700 does have a serial port IIRC, but so does my desktop. No idea why my desktop has one, it's a Z68 based Sandy Bridge i5, but it's there. Always had it disabled in the BIOS. I forgot PP even existed, IIRC they were a decent modem? I also had a ZyXEL 16.8k at one point. I actually emailed USR to see if they could at least get me a pinout, but they said they had zero documentation for it anymore. A 56k Courier is pretty drat cheap on eBay now anyway, and uses a standard (if not beefy) wall wart. kastein, want this old Courier? I bet you could come up with a power supply for it. Looking closer at it, it looks like 2 or 3 pins aren't even connected to anything (or the board just has so many layers it may not be obvious), so it may have just been their way of making sure you used USR-branded power supplies.

External modems kick rear end... I have a picture of my old 28.8 modem somewhere but can't find it. That thing was great and I am totally up for any modem-based shenanigans people want to get up to. UUCP news distribution? Jonny 290 would probably be down for some sort of collaboration with the YOSPOS BBS, because he's a cool dude.

415lbs and a hosed lower back until I get ortho inserts and PT. I was down to 370 a few years back, but losing jobs and gyms hosed me hard. Of course new principal has decided to clear house so I'm out of a job and my back is hosed, so I'm not doing so well right now. Don't be me.

I have a stack of them somewhere still too... but I can't remember where. Plumbing chat. Since I shut off the raw water feed to the taps around the house and dug some trenches for the water to leech into the kitchen wall has returned to almost where it was. This makes no sense to me whatsoever but I'll accept it as a success. I'm in the process of digging a trench from the raw water meter to the house, following the pipe so I can lay poly to replace the galvanized pipe. Hopefully it'll also mean that the taps will flow faster than a piss stream when I'm done. To water the garden I had to experiment to find the lowest flow micro spray jets I could and set up multiple staggered timers with long durations to water the different garden beds. I'd gaze in jealousy at sprinklers in people's yards throwing out mighty arcs of foul smelling water. I tried using sprinklers. The water would just trickle out. The problem I'm facing with the poly plumbing is I have no idea how to do it. I'm going to have to ask my in-laws what fittings they used and where they got them.

Yo, racing sim dudes, what would you guys suggest I get if I wanted a decent wheel to play DiRT Rally with? I'm picking up a GTX 970 + another 8GB of RAM in a few weeks, after that I think I'm gonna splurge on a nice wheel / pedal combo. I kinda want to get a Logitech G27 but I don't know if I can justify that $240 price. I mean, it looks loving rad and I really really really want it, but is there anything decent that's a bit less pricy?
