You'd think someone who's career has revolved around using guns would be just a tad more... shook over losing his shooting arm/hand? But nope. Ocelot is just that smooth a dude to not let it get to him while making a hasty escape. I suppose he does have the livelihood of torture to fall back on.

Yeah, the 70's were a LOT weirder than nostalgia would have you believe. The period where porn went mainstream really boggles my mind. Hollywood big budget pictures were probably at their most terrible at the time (this was right before stuff like Star Wars brought big effects movies back) and the porn folks started trying to make "real" movies with actual plots as well as wall-to-wall fuckin', and it worked for a short period. Like, I think it really hit me one time where I caught an old episode of Sanford and Son on Nick at Night or something, and Lamont's getting ready to leave the house and he tells his dad that he "and the guys wanna go see this new skin flick playing at the theater, it's supposed to be outta sight". Who just says "Hey dad, I'm leaving to go watch a porn with my buddies..."???

With that said, it was also the most cutscene heavy and backtrack heavy section of the game. Probably going to leave the drinking rules as is for the rest of MGS1, but come MGS2 we're definitely doing current rules + thread suggested/voted conditions. We've also recorded enough to keep up an episode every two days for the next little while, barring any scheduling issues I want to keep that up. Unfortunately I have an 8-day work week, so I work different days every week. Scheduling is bound to get fucky at some point. It's also why I pretty much never co-commentate on other people's videos anymore, I absolutely HATE putting that burden on other people.

Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 4 - Gray Fox's Punchout!! An episode that starts with James Bond and Spiderman fist fighting each other, followed by Otacon talking about anime for 15 minutes. This is as Metal Gear as it gets. Fun facts for this episode: -Each photo takes up two blocks of data. Save files only take one. -When Otacon mentions "the President", he's referring to Baker, not Solidus. I just wanted to talk about Solidus. Weihenstephaner is amazing, but for some reason it's only good when it's on tap. I had some at Wurstkuche (German sausage place in LA, highly recommended) and it was loving amazing. But when I buy it in the bottles, it's not the same. Weihenstephaner kristall, even bottled, is really loving good though and I recommend it. When Grey Fox gets "wiggy" you can actually shoot him with the SOCOM or the FA-MAS, that way you don't have to wait for his energy field to die down. Also it's just fun to light him up with the FA-MAS after a long fistfight.

I'll keep an eye out, our liquor store is wierd in that they have boxes with all the bigger brands, and then a rack with like fifty kinds of random-rear end beers from around the world with no rhyme or reason. also 60% of the building is dedicated specifically to wine, which I'm way too serf-class to be drinking.

Just a heads-up for any and all interested parties: kristall is filtered wheat beer, which means a lot of what makes that type of beer what it is, is removed to make it clear and less scary looking. Wheat beer is naturally opaque, and bottled wheat beer often has sedimented yeast at the bottom of the bottle, which you can swirl back into the beer while pouring for extra goodness. You're right in that it's a kind of beer that doesn't take well to bottling. It's fine if you like kristall, but it is a perversion of wheat beer.

See, I can't stomach whiskey in the least, or any rum apart from white rum. We're talking levels of even one shot or mixed drink just going for broke destroying my internal organs. I dunno, as soon as it gets past my lips I get this weird aftertaste and an odd feeling in my stomach and then my night and often most of my next day get ruined. Gin, on the other hand... I also had the misfortune of leaving the States to study in Germany right before turning 21 and actually hadn't had anything alcoholic beforehand, so I got my taste for beer surrounded by Germany's finest and then returned home to the generally awful stuff we've got here. My last year at college was spent sitting at tables where I ordered an import (or Sam Adams, because that's not bad) while everyone else split a pitcher of goddamn Coors. Did eventually solve this problem by following my dad into home brewing. It's surprisingly easy to make some really good beer if you just pay attention to the method. gregory fucked around with this message at 01:22 on May 9, 2015 |

Policenaughts is pretty good. It's basically Lethal Weapon in space. The main characters are pretty much literally Murtaugh and Riggs with different names. Also, the bad guy company (Tokagawa) is the same ones that make Raiden's robot body. Also, there's a character cameo from Snatcher in Policenaughts. It's all connected. (Incidentally, it could be argued that Metal Gear 1 & 2 are loosely referenced in Snatcher, and I'm NOT talking about your robot buddy that returns for MGS4). IIRC, On someone's bookshelf in Policenaughts is a copy of the first game Kojima made, this dinky little 3D runner where you're a penguin jumping over obstacles. Also, I'm convinced now that Danaru doesn't actually know that you're safe from cameras if you stand directly underneath them.

The problem I had on the right side was trying to get the right timing to snatch the guard without walking on the loud floor. The camera itself was barely an issue since half the time it looks over at a dead end I have no need to go to. The one on the left I chaffed basically on autopilot because I couldn't be arsed with it. The ones in the warhead storage area I DID just run under since no one is wandering too closely around them. My main regret is not thinking to just flip the guard and run away, considering that's pretty much been my mainstay so far.

Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 5 - Mei Ling's Rage Mantis, you might want to recalibrate that psychic stuff. Fun facts for this episode: -If you repeatedly call Mei Ling and say you don't want to save, she sticks out her tongue at you. We were planning on doing that until she killed the mood by yelling at us a bunch. -I totally thought Psycho Mantis was a Latino luchadore when I was a kid, apparently he's Russian. This game is an accent catastrophe. -Apparently Mantis worked for both the KGB AND the FBI before joining FOXHOUND. Hell of a resume, bro. -Atavistic: relating to or characterized by reversion to something ancient or ancestral. -I actually really liked the Metal Gear Solid book. It was just as campy as the game

Which is a shame since it has the most fully realized gameplay. Moving snake around and all the things you could do felt so good. An even bigger shame is that it was paired with absolutely terrible levels and nowhere to use the slow crawl.

I don't dislike MGS4 as much as most people do, it has some really great gameplay additions, the only problem being that the locations are sorta lovely, and good loving god 90% of the game is cutscenes and that awful Prague level. They even managed to make Shadow Moses suck by filling it full of hundreds of bullshit fun-killing robot enemies. Also loving Naomi "HI I DIED IN AN EARLIER ACT HERE'S A VIDEO OF ME EXPOSITING THE SAME loving THING FOR ALL ETERNITY ISN'T THIS A GREAT REWARD FOR THE MICROWAVE HALLWAY" Hunter. I seriously hated Naomi less when she was actively trying to kill me. Also I'm sorry but I love the ending scene with Big Boss. Yeah it's dumb but dammit they both get closure and Snake gets to ride off into the sunset with his Totally Heterosexual™ boyfriend and they get to go on plane adventures with their adopted daughter How is that not the best thing Also here's a bonus video. Joke's on you Psycho Mantis I'm a trash human being
