they've shipped some of their GIF cameras so i'm assuming this isn't a deliberate scam, but i'm really curious what part of the equation they've skipped to arrive at $9 like, can you skip FCC testing if you're just using a wifi/bluetooth chip? i don't see it mentioned anywhere on the page i'm also sure graphics people will be thrilled to work around Mali bugs

chip is an actual good use for kickstarter it is a simple product with minimal supply chain issues they already have a design and prototypes they just need money and orders in hand to get volume pricing

also i think the funniest thing is that they have an actual half decent gpu in there, which stomps the revised rpi's performance since that still uses essentially the same gpu as the original rpi, whihc itself was a mid range smartphone from 2006's gpu with a h.264 decoder bolted on.

Vlad the Retailer posted:like, can you skip FCC testing if you're just using a wifi/bluetooth chip? i don't see it mentioned anywhere on the page it's a pre certified module, so you have to do FCC (when volumes are big enough) but they just grab the report from the module and test the edges. wifi and btle are not too difficult outside of some edge cases (e.g. HD streaming video or something) because you're not blasting the radio 100% e: lol "100% open source!" + allwinner
