Ah yeah, that was him. Still, that's 20 bucks so two thirds of the way there, if we're sticking with the previously stated numbers. Does the remaining 10 bucks go on ketchup?

I always budget high, just in case of emergencies. (Rice vinegar goes on sale for a huge bottle for 5 bucks every now and again though, so I get some of that when I can)

It's almost like contract workers have widely varying pay grades or something that can change from season to season! Amazing!

Edit: To not come off like a total rear end though, this is the off season for me, and it's down to bare minimum work wages, so I have cut down all expenses to zero. Other times, I can afford to live nicely and save up for the inevitable car explosion or whatever happens.

You need to be less like the grasshopper, throwing all your gains wildly to the wind when times are rough, only to suffer in once the season turns. Be like the ant.

yep, I have a smaller Digital Caliper for stuff up to 6", but I feel like a dial gives a more accurate measurement. It's really just a personal preference though I guess

Fair enough!

Mind you we hardly use our calipers or mics at all anymore, all CMM based. All about those measurements down to a tenth of a micron :getin:

Every tool I have was recommended by people with more experience than me, I always appreciate their input on what brands make quality tools and which ones to avoid. I don't think anyone has ever said anything good or bad about General tools though. I'll probably ask around one of these days, and get some input

Phase shift interferometry will get you to .1 nanometer and coupling that with a piezo electronic stage will get you to .01 nanometer.

I'm an applications engineer for a company that supplies them. I can tell you that Apple owns one to check the surface finish on iPhone shells. You'd be surprised at the companies out there that have crazy high precision measuring equipment. I work with everyone from defense contractors that I have to apply for clearance for and submit to background checks to Crayola.

Currently I'm working on one with a biometric sensor manufacturer.

So far I love it. Much faster and prettier than my old MAXX. Battery life isnt as good as the MAXX but it'll make it through a day of heavy use. A few minutes of charging buys a lot of runtime though. Motorola just kicks rear end at phones these days.
