I always budget high, just in case of emergencies. (Rice vinegar goes on sale for a huge bottle for 5 bucks every now and again though, so I get some of that when I can)

Oh God, brace yourself, it's a shoe post: New Chuck Taylor All-Stars, cause after nearly 3 years, my last pair has pretty much bitten the dust. Asic Gel Excite 2, ugly as sin but I needed running shoes and these were cheap/comfortable. Should have paid ~$100, ended up paying closer to $60, yay employee discounts!

I just ordered some test fabric swatches to see how some designs I made look on different materials. If any of them turn out well, we're going to see how they work for neckties and bow ties.rockcity posted:Phase shift interferometry will get you to .1 nanometer and coupling that with a piezo electronic stage will get you to .01 nanometer. I can tell you that Apple owns one to check the surface finish on iPhone shells. You'd be surprised at the companies out there that have crazy high precision measuring equipment. I work with everyone from defense contractors that I have to apply for clearance for and submit to background checks to Crayola. Currently I'm working on one with a biometric sensor manufacturer.

Got me a new precious. Nexus 6 on Verizon. So far I love it. Much faster and prettier than my old MAXX. Battery life isnt as good as the MAXX but it'll make it through a day of heavy use. A few minutes of charging buys a lot of runtime though. Motorola just kicks rear end at phones these days.
