Huh, what's going on here? It looks like there's some ghosting of the letters, like the 'd' in today and the 'l' in let are shifted over.

I think he's talking about the faint lines that appear near the letters:

I think it's just where the outlines were though

e: Actually, looking over the picture and where those lines appear, 't' might have had that flourish line in a previous draft but got scrapped four legibility or something

I would imagine that only lovely tattoo artist appear on the reality tv shows because actually talented artists are booked into loving eternity and don't have the patience/misplaced ego to deal with the dog and pony show.

That's not entirely true on both parts. There have been some pretty good artists on both Ink Master and Best Ink. Most of them have been mediocre to bad though. Tattoo Titans however has been almost entirely garbage except for Megan Jean Morris who was in one episode.

Also, not every highly talented artist has a huge wait list. I know of several very sought after artists who don't book more than 2 months out because A. There is less risk on people flaking out or deciding they can't afford it and B. They like to keep an existing clientele and many of them have multiple session pieces.

I've been gorging on tattoo shows and watching all the old seasons and I can't believe how so many of them are in the "top 16" to begin with. I can only imagine that the time crunch and lack of sleep and everything else throws them off their game. Not to mention it seems obvious that some of them are kept around not because they're good at tattooing but because they're such whacked out drama bombs that it makes for more entertainment. I've been pretty much skipping past all the drama parts and watching the critique sections.

My favorite shows are the ones where they cover up terrible tattoos, but I keep reading that the shows are fake. I really want to believe my bad tattoos can be covered with awesome tattoos. :(

The one in Vegas I think it is is absolutely fake. Maybe not all of it, but I've watched more than one episode out of boredom and several them were obviously fake.

Yea, that's "Bad Ink" and it does seem like at least some of them are fake. "Tattoo Nightmares" doesn't seem fake - at least the tattooing part. The stories of how the clients got the bad tattoos sound highly embellished. I guess people are too embarrassed to say "Got this penis unicorn tramp stamp in my neighbor's kitchen while we smoked meth." Also learned from these shows that a lot of men have gotten bad tramp stamps. :aaa:

It looks like someone who had never seen cursive handwriting before just had someone describe it to them as an abstract concept and then they freehand drew it as an image rather than as language.

All the glyph ones are relatively inoffensive, though a bunch are done kind of badly. All the Leeloo ones are prime thread content and deserve nothing but scorn. Ruby Rhod is glorious in every way.

Yeah everything is so shopped in that picture the tattoos look fake too. Some of them are literally flash with placeholder text... that no one replaced.

Genuinely surprised that he was able to find an artist that was able to combine all of his stupid ideas so cohesively.
