Yeah, I agree. By the time Fez retired, the schtick was well and truly played out, and there was definitely no hope for it ever to get better. I used to find it really funny whenever new guests found out about Fez's weirdness, but even that began to get stale over the last year or so ("Have you tried Gindr?"). If I'm ever in need of hearing Fez freakouts, there's almost a decades-worth of those shows archived. I can only imagine how happy and relieved Ron is that he's finally free.

I'm glad Ron's free as well, you can tell how much he wants to simply have fun with the show, and he's doing it. Just to have a happier and snappier Ron is worth retiring Fez. And honestly, there is only one way to really extend the Fez bit and that would be to demote him so he couldn't pull the boss card whenever he wanted to slap an intern around. But that would have ended in his eventual death. So best of both worlds.

I'm going to laugh pretty hard if Opie & Jim actually end up going somewhere now that their show isn't attached to a lunatic racist who fantasized about killing black people on air weekly. Maybe that visual element's on the way. Ha ha.

This seems like a very desperate move to try and see if Opie has something to keep him going along. This reeks of Todd Pettengill getting his own sad vision and then immediately sinking it with lovely bits and a complete lack of humor.

I would I could find the raw audio of them cutting that bit. They did it live on one of those Paltalk Aftershows they use to do. Ron was so tired and they spent half the time trying to figure out a way to jam Fez into the bit (maybe you can be the announcer? do your announcer voice. no, gruffer)

I don't. At the end, it was nothing but misery with him. He needs to figure out his life in very serious terms because he wasn't in a good enough place to continue doing radio. And while the flipouts were funny in many ways, it wasn't funny all the time. The Bennington show makes me laugh and I can enjoy listening for a while. But Fez....at the end, even with the BL stuff, was just bringing me down.

I guess I like listening to train wrecks. I really like Bennington. I like all the Chris messing up and the gang pilling on him but I get tired of the upbeat happy happy. I don't want happy all the time.

but then it's still in its birth so really I got no real problems with it.

I kinda want to see where it goes but drat if I am not cringing already just from the Stangel article. And not in the old, intentional O&A way.

Already kinda mad at Opie using Anthony's departure repeatedly as an excuse to not do entertaining segments.

I don't mind the current show but that's because it's just a limp version of O&A. The problem is that version of the show is going to go nowhere so I can't fault them for wanting to try something new.
