computer parts posted:I think everyone agrees that nerds would be roughly representative of the social groups they come from. I think people would disagree that nerds are representative of society since (at least historically) they are predominantly white men. Nerdy cultural products were and are generally cheap and widely available- the pulps, B movies, paperbacks, comics- so I doubt that even in the 1930s that nerds were so predominantly white men as people assume. Organized nerddom, yes until recently, but even still, less than people assume.

Ultimately GG has little to do with /v/ and 4chan in general anymore do to the aforementioned dislike on 4chan for things deemed "popular" after GG was spammed into the ground on /v/, bringing it up normally will result in people mocking the poster as the community is quite collectively tired of it. What 4chan cares most about is entertainment; even /pol/ adores leftists when they win because of the circus of right wing tears that result after said leftist victory. /v/ loves the Doritos pope even though he represents everything terrible and corrupt about the video game industry because the pope is funny to laugh at. 4chan doesn't care if your liberal or conservative; if they think they can make fun of you and get a laugh out of it they will.

If you see a traditional game/warhammer40k/dwarf fortress meme there is a 99% chance it came from /tg/, similarly if you see a meme about something television or movie related it probably came from /tv/.
