Majora is still so new (on the 3DS) that it's probably pretty expensive everywhere. Thank you! I'm taking a look at physical carts. Didn't know Majora was new on the 3DS. I'm also adding A Link Between Worlds on my list. Any recommendation in wich order to play these three games?

Majora is still so new (on the 3DS) that it's probably pretty expensive everywhere. Physical copies of OoT, at least her in NTSC Land, are going for a bit over retail and LbW is not far behind. MM is steady, but it is still very new. Nintendo specialises, and I use that term with all derision, in underproducing popular games that become very expensive, very fast on the secondhand market. I have wanted a GC copy of Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword for a while now, but they are still going for almost AAA prices used. I have TP on the Wii, but I would rather play the version with normal controls and if they do a VC release of it, which I admit is quite possible, they will probably do the Wii version with Wii-style-only controls. I could see SS getting a VC release as well, but come to think of it I am not sure why I would like to play it since I am sure that the controls would annoy me there too...

PAL update (week of May 21):quote:WII U RETAIL DOWNLOAD Swords & Soldiers 2 is a Wii U-exclusive sequel to the old Wiiware game from several years back and looks to be a fairly straightforward upgrade over the original - it's in HD, there are more units/factions, multiplayer puts one player on the TV and one on the gamepad, etc. It was supposed to be out quite a while ago so I haven't really been following it lately but I'm sure it turned out fine. Epic Yarn requires a wiimote for each player, Paper Mario is 50HZ.

I never had the chance to play Kirby's Epic Yarn, also I'll be able to upgrade my Paper Mario. Of course, I still have Rainbow Curse to finish, and also got Kirby's Adventure Wii when it came out.

Prediction: When they run out of ideas for 'Mo/'Blox games, they will release the epic grand finale, Ultimo aka Allblox. It will be freemium like Stretchmo/Fullblox but contain all the levels from all previous games as DLC, plus new level packs for each game and packs that combine various types of Blox in various combinations and degrees of insanity (solid-backed Pushmos/Pullblox standing in the middle of the level? facing sideways? be still my beating brain). Perhaps the types will be distinguishable by art types on their surfaces - pencilly scribbles, splotchy paint, pastelly crayons etc. (and these are the art tools used in the workshop).

Malo's grandpa put in prison for continuously putting his dangerous inventions in public parks and trapping children. Malo doesn't take kindly to it and decides to bust him out and take down the system in Killmo.

wall monitor posted:What is 50hz and why is that a big deal? it's 5/6ths of 60Hz, which is the amount of fps NTSC games run at. PAL games have been 50Hz for generations due to the different TV standard and if they weren't optimized for it, they basically ran at 83% of the normal speed. If they were optimized for it, they still only ran at 50 FPS instead of 60. It wasn't until the Gamecube that Nintendo let PAL users decide whether they want to run games at 50 or 60 Hz, even though most TV sets had already supported 60 Hz/NTSC since the late 90s. This is a particularly terrible example; at least Nintendo usually had the decency to keep the sound at the normal speed so the game only looked/played slower. Super Mario Kart was notorious for this because while the sound was alright and the clock was in realtime, the game itself ran slower which resulted in NTSC lap times being unbeatable on PAL carts. *edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuRabkygcUE Katana Gomai fucked around with this message at 15:32 on May 18, 2015 |

No you see, Nintendo will only release VC games when they're able to be perfectly emulated. Things were just dark way back then.

In case you didn't notice, the game opens with bowser infiltrating heaven, enslaving it's guardians, and extinguishing the hopes and dreams of all mushroom kingdom residents before flicking Mario aside as if he is nothing, and taking their greatest symbol of hope Princess Peach, and her castle in the sky where she will endure good knows what. Game is dark as poo poo.

Oddly enough if you boot up a 50Hz-only thing in Wii Mode it properly switches to 1080p50, so once more I have no idea why WiiU VC games behave that way.

I ended up having this happen to me with Wily Wars, the Mega Man I-III compilation on Genesis/Mega Drive. It felt off and perhaps made the game a bit too easy, though perhaps that is welcome for an early Mega Man game. On the other hand, I finally managed to beat Needle Man in a buster duel without using any E-Tanks, so hooray me.

Hide it behind a settings menu or odd button combination if you don't want to confuse the masses or something.
