I use R for focus, square to shoot and X for bomb. I'm pretty sure I didn't come up with this config on my own but heck if I remember which game I stole it from.

I get the feeling ZUN designed the difficulty with that Pointdevice mode in mind. Since you get infinite retries and your only penalty is getting sent back a couple seconds and losing a whopping 0.01 power it makes sense that each individual section is considerably more difficult. It's just that this means trying to do Legacy mode suddenly feels like I'm playing a real bullet hell game rather than a Touhou game. I kinda wonder if you'll get different endings for the two different modes and how this'll affect the Extra Stage, though. Time will tell, I suppose.

I hit a brick wall with Doremi, I have no idea how to clear the card where she spawns a circle of tiny bullets around you. Flying out of the circle works, but I then get boxed in by the next wave.

Do you mean her second spell card where the bullets spiral around you? Because at least on Normal you just gotta follow the spiral and you're in the clear. If you mean the laser one, you just gotta stay in the center and then get good at dodging ricocheting laser volleys.

Yeah, I was playing on easy, and didn't even notice the spiral, it looks almost symmetrical.

Ok this could very well be the best Touhou game so far, if ZUN manages to make the final 3 stages any good. The only slight criticism is that Doremy's first 2 boss spells are sort of simplistic. Otherwise, holy poo poo  The number of playability improvements (making grazed bullets visually distinct is particularly brilliant) are insane, and unlike DDC the shot types are actually balanced. This is so awesome  Scoring is gonna be super fun, and there's no oversupply of resources like in TD/DDC.
