I'm playing an alchemy build, which is pretty annoying because I can't find any oils or potion diagrams anywhere. I've just started the Novigrad quest chain at around level 12, so I thought I'd have more than the ones I have. I picked up Enhanced Swallow so would have thought I should have most of the basic level oils/potions by now. Is there someone in particular that sells them, or is it just time to go around hunting the '?'s

Maybe he's talking about stuff like the quest tracker being the only real way to find locations, since the quest text/conversations/notice board notices don't really give decent directions or anything like that, which sucks.

Given the size of the world and the winding nature of the roads, I don't really see how else it could be done? If NPCs or notice boards were expected to give directions to everything they'd be paragraphs and paragraphs long and we'd have people complaining about that instead.

The game has respec potions so imo you should work on stuff you have and then later when you have alchemy you can do alchemy. I think Keira sells one of the potions.

Yrden AoE needs to be increased to be competitively viable with the other signs. Double and I think it would balanced, as it stands monsters can too easily lunge or roll out of the way.

Even though I didn't play Witcher 2, I would've liked to make the storyline choices based on research. Apparently I chose the wrong option, and the game decided for me (I'm just past the shaving and I sure as hell ain't gonna start from the beginning). Anyone know what the world defaults to when this option is chosen?

I beat Witcher 2 in Dark Mode difficulty and farmed up the coin for half the exclusive item sets. I was eating gargoyles for breakfast by the end of the game with any spec (not using the alchemy respec cheat method or whatever). I got to about round 24 in the arena.

After 16 months later, I am ashamed to admit I lost in the first stupid fist fight and to drowners in literally two hits on difficulty one down from the top. The differences between dodge and roll are interesting but getting me killed for the time being but I'll accept deaths for now. This game does not gently caress around with difficulty and seems to make it possible to make combat as unforgiving as Dark Souls without the frustration of the last game's combat mechanics.

I don't care because this is so drat beautiful in every way. I can barely handle this past week after watching the new Mad Mad twice and moving to this for more awesome in my face.

Don't feel bad dude, drowners are no loving joke.

Potion overdose threshold is how much toxicity you can take before beginning to take damage. It's very useful for decoctions, since they have a natural high toxicity, so unless you're specced for alchemy you usually can't use other potions if you're running one.

I thought that was "maximum toxicity"? If it's the same thing the skill is useless because it only gives 5% at max level.

Always drop Yrden and never touch her, because when she phases through you it damages you. Don't bother attacking her if she's not in the trap and don't over commit. Then you want to kill her clones as fast as possible because they regenerate her health.

kill her copies as quickly as you can. The longer they live the more they'll steal. Before they appear they'll just be puffs of cloud but you can still hit them so dodge roll over and hit all three of them. Also take spirit oil if you haven't already.
Took me three bloody tries to get her but each time I noticed something more to her patterns Also as a general tip for ghosts you can overlap two trap signs in a figure eight to increase the space you do extra damage in. Super fuckin handy.

Use Axii on higher leveled human enemies and you can typically kill them in a few shots if not instantly while they're stunned.

For additional help killing the clones, you can actually see where they're going to spawn if you watch the smoke trails when she vanishes. Follow one and kill it the moment it appears, then rush at and kill the other two or go at them with your crossbow. Once you've done it a few times, you'll be good enough that she'll barely be able to regenerate at all.

In fairness, Geralt is nowhere near as responsive as some of his contemporaries in the action genre, and if you're not paying attention/don't realise what's going on, the auto-targeting can really gently caress you up.

The game will happily destroy you for not being 100% on top of the combat system at all times, and the combat system takes a lot of getting used to.

It's not bad, though. It's just, according to a lot of the bitching threads/articles I've read recently, not enough like Skyrim or Bloodborne. Bad gamers fear and hate things that are different.

Is there any danger in over leveling with the game? I didn't do I on purpose, I've just been exploring and talking to people without doing the main quest, but now I'm at level 12 and starting to worry I might ruin the experience later.

Fucken hell, if you defend this sloppy job of combat. I played it on the PS4 and PC and while it's more tolerable with a controller it's still dreadfully shite, especially since I've been playing Bloodborne, which poo poo bosses aside had you actually control your character exactly as you liked, not either spring around like a retard all the time.

Also did the earlier games have weapon/armour durability? I didn't remember it but it's really dull and pointless.

Still, like the story and characters; just a shame that it isn't really enjoyable going through the gameplay. Maybe I'll eventually get used to it but it's still a rubbish system.
