I really liked the one in the first season where those tiny prehistoric bugs were let loose because of logging. Mulder and Scully basically accomplished nothing and ended up trapped in a car all cocooned by the bugs, they were pretty much done for. Of course they are discovered at the last minute and when we see them next they have a rash on their face that will go away in a few weeks. Same deal with the underground fungus.

I actually really like how half the time Mulder and Scully are just passive observers or making mistakes instead of flawlessly solving every case like in your typical cop procedural. It adds some tension since half the time the bad guys pretty much get away with it. I'm thinking for instance the early episode with the devil worshippers.

I realise that 4 seasons in and it hasn't happened yet so won't, but Scully finally admitting Mulder is probably right would be nice considering he almost always is

Istn't the vampire episode in season 6? And I'm sure the genie episode, when she gets to touch an invisible person, takes place in Season 8. So I guess she never really learns to accept outlying evidence, but she learns to be a passive aggressive spinster standing in the way of John Dogget's investigations.

I watched this show sporadically growing up, and seeing that there were new episodes coming out, decided to watch it all the way through. I am only just into the third season, but my god, Clyde Bruckman, best episode. I loved the callback to "Beyond The Sea"

The Orison episode didn't need to happen imo. An episode purely around a prison preacher who can slow time and has an army of hypnotized goons would be an awesome episode on its own. They didn't need to bring back the necrophiliac killer just to kill him off. Seems like with this and Kitsunegari they were eager to bring back an old killer for a brief escape/death sequence that doesn't live up the the first part. ~ Just my opinion ~

Orison was 100% loving terrible for a variety of reasons. Bringing Pfaster back could have been really interesting - even weirdly humanized, like the last few beats of Irresistible where he looks honestly terrified, even if he is human garbage - but instead they just rehash the aforementioned origin episode in a really unpalatable way. I said it in the thread before, but it's worth restating: I was not at all fond of them putting Scully in that position again, even if she "won," and I'm not a fan of them using one of the most effective baddies to put her back in that position. And in a much more hostile way, too. Also there's that 'oh my god literally a demon!' thing which, yeah, no, knock it off. Pfaster was genuinely goddamn creepy in the initial episode, and it was/is a loving fantastic episode. If you like Irresistible at all, never, ever watch Orison. Ever. gently caress blacking out spoilers on that one, seriously. He's written as literally a demon. It's a bad episode. EDIT: Honestly, for as much hate as S9 gets, and a lot of it is well-deserved since they were flailing around looking for poo poo to do, all the while constantly referencing Mulder and Scully things when only Scully was around, 7th season sticks out in my head as the absolute worst season of X-Files, and it's pretty much where I stopped watching when it was still on the air. There were some real goodies in there - X-Cops, Hollywood A.D, Je Souhaite, En Ami (to some extent) and, only for gross factor, Brand X - but, for the most part, it was loving terrible. 7 is great because it was just a bunch of high concept ideas and they run head first into all of them. 8 and 9 play with the same ideas but they kinda seem lost to what they are doing at that point.

In "Leonerd Betts," does that scene where he crawls out of his own mouth mean that he made two living, thinking copies of himself? Because when he drives out of the storage locker, the him behind the wheel is clearly alive and driving the car. It's not just like molted a corpse of himself. That must have been a weird conversation where he convinced the one copy to go die in a fire while he got away.

The one where Mulder thinks a serial killer killed his sister is great because there's a part where he confronts the killer and explains that he believes that he and the killer share a psychic link because Mulder profiled him years ago, and for just a second the killer looks at Mulder like he can't believe anybody would say something that crazy. Like, it's just the same sort of thing Mulder reels off to Scully every week halfway through the episode, but even to a lunatic murderer it sounds nuts--and in that moment you also realize just how crazy Mulder sounds all the time when you're not used to hearing him do it every week.

So he barely wrote it.
