i've almost beaten the ds final fantasy 3 remake. this is the first jrpg i've ever actually beaten despite having bought and started a shitload of them. i feel like it's my duty as an anime fan to do this

the man with the ghost co-writer is also the guy who writes the best 40k fiction, not counting ian watson's book about how space marines are all loving lunatic religious weirdos who brand each other on the rear end and are mad gay as hell Space Marine is a great book even if you don't give half a poo poo about 40k because it was written early enough that it sidesteps the SPESS MUHREEN IS BEST stuff that brings down a lot of the more modern books, and instead focuses on three new recruits to the imperial fists chapter of the space marines and their induction, training, and religious brainwashing. one of the fists' tradition is doing scrimshaw on the handbones of the fallen. at the end of the book, two of the three dudes die, and the survivor decides to honor them by dipping his hand in acid to scour the flesh off so he can do scrimshaw on his own fist. also they run through some weird obstacle course naked as a kind of space hazing and at the end get branded on the rear end
