Psiharis posted:Failing the Baron's objective in Gwent is not a problem. Sooner or later the quest updates and tells you where to get his card and a note telling you where the next opponents are. Play some lovely no-name merchants in west bumblefuck parts of Velen and get slightly better cards, play rural innkeeps, skip oxenfurt until you've at least finished the Velen gwent quest which gives you a useful hero among other things. Yeah the starter deck is pretty decent, imo the Foltest clear weather leader card is one of the very best and the Northern Realms faction ability (draw extra card at start of new round) is also strong. Just some general tips: -Usually you want the bare minimum number of unit cards (=22) and not too many special cards (up to 10 allowed). Switch in stronger cards as you get them, you want to increase the odds of drawing a strong hand so bring only your best cards. -Spies and Healers are extremely good and you should always bring them. Anything that lets you draw more cards. -I would bring one or a couple each of Decoy, Horns, maybe Scorch. Don't bring more than a couple weather cards unless you are running a specific strategy around them. Weather plays can be really powerful especially for example against Monsters who play mostly melee units. -Decide your broad strategy based on the hand you draw and redraw accordingly. Remember the game is going to go at least two rounds, most of the time you'll have a stronger first round and then save a few cards for the second round to mop up. It seems to take quite a while to build up enough cards for decks other than Northern Realms. edit: Calaveron posted:So griffin gear quest, how am I supposed to get it with the wyvern breathing down my neck minor spoiler: You can avoid the wyvern, swim around to the base of the lighthouse island and there's some Drowners and a Place of Power. You can either hop up the wall and into the lighthouse or swim into a cave near the Place of Power. The swim route will probably require you to shoot some Drowners while swimming. It took me a bit to find the actual schematics, they're up a ladder immediately to the right if you were crossing the bridge from the mainland and not in the big main tower. I'm not one to talk though considering how bad a turn things took in my end-game. Best bet is not to save-scum, but instead rectify your choices in your 2nd playthrough as in the long run a lot of things don't necessarily turn out as expected. I think that is the best plan. So far I've avoided save scumming so I'll keep trucking along!

Until I got better unit cards I rolled with 6-7 special cards, no weather cards, because I needed more units to take down opponents with stronger single units. Also, just set a low wager and bail out if you draw complete crap at the beginning. For quest matches, there's no penalty for conceding, except for trash-talking.

drat game owns. Beat it yesterday, I thought the story was pretty well done. I think this is the best modern rpg ever made, aside from a few gameplay annoyances. The graphics during cutscenes are unreal at ultra settings. Game sets the bar in so many ways.

Why is it so difficult to find places to repair your weapon in Velen? Why am I literally tripping balls with armour repair kits but I can't find a single weapon repair kit everywhere? Or a person to repair said weapons? Why the gently caress is this game giving me so many loving shoes rather than intersesting gear? I'm going to novigrad to see if I can repair my broken swords there. I don't have much hope - the game seems to want to gently caress with me. I want to like this game but it seems to want to piss me off

How do I get a bestiary entry for a monster I haven't fought before if the quest itself doesn't give me one? Can I buy a book somewhere? I could look at some FAQ, but I'd like to do it ingame. My specific problem is I don't know what to do against the werewolf's obscene regen, I assume I can supress that.

Easiest would be to hit up the central part of Novigrad, there was a map posted in the last couple pages

Just some general tips: Draw ability seems weak imo, in each game you'll ever only get 1 card out of it. I'd say Nilfgaard win on draw is the best ability, or Monster keep unit on field. Foltest clear weather card is also weak, because it's situational. Best card ability I'd say is free warhorn or the Nilfgaard draw from enemy discard pile. BAILOUT MCQUACK! posted:Has anyone figured out how early in the evening noonwraiths lose their strengths? Real men fight noon wraiths at noon. I had no idea that this was a thing. Just assumed it was a "you fight at noon or you don't fight at all" sort of thing. I don't know how people had trouble with Jenny of the Woods if they also did the Beast by the Well or whatever that quest was in White Orchard. They all play the same. My only gripe about fighting wraiths of all varieties is that yerden's circle is just a bit too small since they just back dodge out of it immediately unless I get them up against a wall, which isn't an option for some of those fights. Thank god for Moon Dust. Edit: Also the whoreson who decided that inventory food, pots, and bombs needed to be sorted AFTER contracts (why the hell are they even a thing in the inventory?), books, and random notes needs to get drawn and quartered. Yes, we implimented a difficulty where only food and potions can heal you, yes, we will make it as hard as possible to do so. At least oils sit on top of everything, but having to scroll down every time I want to eat some meat and water is so god drat stupid I wonder how it made it to release? Also there are a some "swampy" places where the water level drops off almost vertically to just a right level where you can't pick yourself out of, but also can't jump. So your stuck in a chest high puddle in the middle of a swamp and in all likelyhood, have not saved for about 20 minutes. There is also a half sunk boat that you can get in, but can't get out because of debris. Which Galaxy had an easy picture taking button like steam so I could tell you where to look out easily. I can't wait for the Redkit to come out for this game. Witcher 3 seems like one of those games where it's 95% total masterpiece and 5% horribly annoying poo poo that would almost ruin any other game of any lesser quality overall but only manage to drag your overall impression of this game down a bit instead. Luckily though, the bugs are really pretty superficial in nature and any half way decent mod kit should be able to take care of them pretty quickly.

It serves absolutely no purpose other than the "heh cool" factor you get the first time you do it. A question about my character skills since I haven't played the first game. When looking at the four corners, I want to put a mutagen in each section, then match up skill colors to that mutagen, correct? For instance, for my signs I want a blue mutagen, then pick three great signs to use so they get bolstered by the mutagen? If I do that, do my other skills not placed in one of the three blocks still have their bonuses count? Can I not combine lesser symbols into greater ones? Right now I have 6 lesser symbols of Ignii and it's dumb to have that many. lite_sleepr fucked around with this message at 21:14 on May 25, 2015 |
