Mister Beeg posted:The best example of that was FoxTrot. Bill Amend loved to include side jokes in the backgrounds, the most common being that, whenever there's a character reading the newspaper, headlines would always involve a certain cartoonist doing awesome things, like buying a space station or marrying a supermodel. As much as I love older Fox Trot, his current Sunday output doesn't really compare and very rarely needs the added space for it gives him. It's unfortunate.

I don't make up these titles, the creators of the strips I post work together to come up with a common theme every day, and I just point it out. How else do you explain the following Worm Comix? Pooch Café Sometimes Poncho's character traits clash and end up not making a ton of sense. No dog has ever demanded to go to the vet. Cool art in that panel, though. Skip, who follows his dream girl around constantly, stares at her from ten feet away at work, but will never ever actually ask her out or anything, has labeled another woman "stalker" because she seems interested in him.

Dustin Hasn't this exact art been used a couple times already? Did Parker finally say, "Screw it, I'm not putting any more effort into this than Steve puts into writing it?" I can't say I blame him. Bleeker Yeah if there were no other Bleekers around you wouldn't be able to just go down to the store and buy more Bleeker parts. Howard Beale posted:Is there an archive of this somewhere? Montana's Newspaper Archie would make a great addition to the thread. Always liked Sneering Jughead. Not that I'm aware of. I got this from an article about the changing style of Archie (the 'classic' look was in place by the '50's, it seems) and had been curious what the original strips looked like. Darkhorse have published a bunch of compilations of early Archie if (unlike me) you are keen. I agree, the earlier, seedier looking Jughead is much more interesting!
