I've been listening to the Skeptics Guide to Conspiracy and I never realized that Thermite, the magical item that CAN MELT STEEL BEAMS is a extremely common thing used in construction as welders use it when they are welding things. So the fact it is found at ground zero is about as significant as finding dirt. I really miss Skeptoid because it was fun an interesting, and had a lot of topics and was able to do a lot in about 15 or less minutes. Its too bad Brian Dunning is a giant Randoid who felt that if he can scam money off people, it was perfectly alright. Also that the whole thing worked on the Freep model; cry poverty but have everything done by your family while raking in the big bux with donations.

Even if it had nothing to do with constructions finding thermite (or the components of it even) is utterly and completely meaningless. It can have ingredients like iron oxide or alumina for crying out loud and those are materials that it would be suspicious to NOT find nearby any random location you picked.

Back in the day this was one of my favourite articles about how the towers, and WTC 7, actually fell down. The point is that the steel doesn't have to melt fully, it just has to get hot enough to lose its strength: The fuel fire burned up to 1,100 degrees C (2,000 degrees F) for perhaps 10 minutes. It ignited the many plastic furnishing (carpets, curtains, furniture, equipment cases, clothing, fixtures, office ceilings and partitions), paper items (paper supplies, books, pressed wood), and some structural elements (gypsum wall boards, plastic plumbing), which then continued the fire. The exposed steel beams in the impact zone heated to between 700 C to 1,000 C. Steel at 700 C has 50 per cent to 70 per cent of its strength at habitable temperatures; and steel at 1,000 C has between 10 per cent to 30 per cent. The floors in the impact zone sagged because of broken joints to central columns, heat causing their metal framing to soften, weaken and expand; also because of the weight of debris fallen from above . The sagging floors twisted their joints to the perimeter columns (on the three intact faces); the length of column above a floor joint being twisted inward. For one face of the building, the combined stress of the original weight above it, the added compression from the hat truss, and the torque from the sagging floors were too much. Its perimeter beams were bent inward to the point of failure, and they buckled. The NIST investigation was an extremely detailed analysis by 200 engineers and building professionals, describing the conditions of the buildings from the instant an airplane collided to the moment a collapse began. The next section of this CounterPunch report carries the story downward from the point where NIST leaves off. NIST concentrated its resources on the greatest uncertainty: what initiated the collapse? This is what happened. A Pumped Oil Spill The debris fall ripping into the southwest corner ruptured the oil pipes of the SSB pressurized fuel distribution system. Operating as intended — the lack of utility power triggering the "need", and the lack of pressure due to a severed pipe signaling the "demand", the SSB system pumped oil up from its 12,000 gallon basement reservoir, maximally with a pressure of 50 psi (pounds per square inch) and flow rate of 75 gpm (gallons per minute), onto Floor 5. Pumping would have started at 9:59 a.m., when Con Ed cut utility power to WTC 7; and the spilling would have started a half hour later when the pressurized pipe was cut. The SSB pumps could have drained the two 6,000 gallon tanks in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Engineers from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation found that "there was a maximum loss of 12,000 gallons of diesel from two underground storage tanks registered as 7WTC." (10) yadda yadda yadda if we assume the oil fire in WTC 7 occurs on the eastern third of the floor space of three floors, then the volume of the oil fire equals that of one floor, which is roughly 15,000 m^3. In this case, the ironcrete volume is 810 m^3, and its temperature rise is 677 C. This estimate assumes all the energy of combustion contained in the fuel oil is released and captured by the structure; clearly, an overestimate. If we assume that up to half of the combustion energy is lost, because the air is throttled, and because fuel vapors are lost to the atmosphere (as hot, smoky pollution), then we arrive at 768 GJ released within 3 to 7 hours, producing an ironcrete temperature rise of 339 C. Since the flame temperature is about 1100 C (2000 F), we can expect metal supports within continuing fires to heat up by much more than the average amount estimated here.

Dubya himself was loving cheered in NYC as an inspiring orator, that's how traumatized or brain damaged from breathing cancer dust everyone probably was. The audacity even some people have to immediately agree with some Youtube troll freezeframing on spurts of glass and debris as proof of demolition squibs when at least dozens of people are also filmed jumping to their deaths from 80 stories up because the heat was unbearable and all the stairwells and elevator shafts rendered inaccessible by jet fuel and impact damage and whatnot is so tasteless. The building was so hosed, I read hundreds of people died because most elevators automatically locked down waiting for firefighters that couldn't make it. So at the moment of impact, people got trapped and probably roasted alive in there. So awful. I hate how 9/11 is basically either a lead in to NO WMD LOL or endless circular arguments with clueless plebs who are too cool for the 9/11 report cuz woah dude, did you see WTC 7 frame by frame at 280P resolution? So obviously a false flag man. Very hard to discuss 9/11 culturally or academically or whatever when people are so stupid or petty. At least the WTC memorial lights every 9/11 from Ground Zero are mad pro. Very touching but trippy as balls too.

I once got into an argument with a truther on another forum who came out with the idea that it must have been someone else because the Middle East had no reason to hate the US that much. I don't know how many of you know about the March Against Mansanto this weekend, where they're taking a stand against GMOs and Mansanto. Well, I know one goon in Philly was part of the counter protest trying to talk to these people, obviously getting nowhere. yeah, what motivates these people is a sort of anti-modernist traditionalist fear that mass monoculture food production is bad for the environment and tends to be dominated by corporate profit motives. this is true and reasonable. but addressing structural problems in our society is nigh impossible, so its easier to boil it down to acute problems like "monsanto is actively poisoning us" or "GMOs are bad like RADIATION" and other half baked luddite nonsense for example there's a lot of fear that GMOs cause health problems and some tenative but not at all convincing research linking GMOs and herbicide consumption with poor health. this gets endlessly rebroadcast in woo circles like articles proving the link between vaccines and autism. but you know what does demonstrably cause poor health as consumption increases? processed food the general link here is that there is an actual problem we can do very little/nothing about. so one way to prevent feeling completely impotent and helpless in the face of a big mean world is to invent a villain to rage against, whether it be monsanto, or big pharma, or george w. bush, or all black people, or or or
