Is it worth running 4 bare Sigmas or are three plus upgrades (especially the cloaking-specific ones) far better?

Three sigmas with advanced cloaking device, advanced sensor, and intelligence agent is 99 points, and would be my initial guess at how to run phantoms at low PS. Gives you a chance to see the dials of your opponents ships, and barrel roll out of some firing arcs/into their movement path.

I feel like the big problem here will be turrets. I mean, turrets are kind of a problem for many lists, but low PS Phantoms in particular stand to get shredded by anyone packing a turret and higher PS than them, and there's not a lot that decloak shenanigans and barrel rolling can do against 360-degree fire coverage.

That's basically summarising X-Wing in general though; Any list you make needs to run an internal checklist that says 'How will I deal with...?' and one of the entries on that list is dedicated to 2x Large with Turrets.

(Hyperbole intended) They could change the core rulebook through FAQ and add Autothruster-esque Green to everyone, so that any shots fired outside of your Primary Arc give an additional Green Dice, and they'd STILL be worth taking. That tells you simultaneously how good Turrets are in this game, and how bad Green dice are generally compared to simple tankiness.

Eh 2 turret lists arent nearly as common anymore now that double IGs are a hot thing. Thats the big roadblock in list building now and low lvl phantoms being PS 5 is kinda sucks vs them.

I much prefer Double IG than Double Turret, simply because at least the Double IG player is (even if hyper maneuverable) being forced to think - Double Turret can be (though not exclusively, I don't mean this comment to sound as damning as it probably sounds) basically 'dumb', and just circle the board, knowing full well it's happy to play attrition, and you'll run out of Hull before it does.

Naturally, that's over-critical of the list, but I think it's at least partially true; X-Wing is a game of move & countermove, and the Double Turret lists often just don't give a gently caress, and do whatever they were going to do anyway.

I am actually glad about the inclusion of IGs to the meta because I think they have shaken up the meta quite a bit. I was pretty amazed as well that both the regional and spring tournament seemed to have a much lower number of phantom lists as compared to earlier in the year when I flew in my store championship. Everyone seems to agree that the meta currently present in the system is much healthier than even a few months back and I think the introduction of S&V and the changes to the cloaking rules are largely the cause of that.

I've actually found the autoblaster turret Y-Wings without the title to be really useful, you can even drop the unhinged and they'll do pretty reliable damage (during both the regional and the spring tourney that I went to more than one player got caught unaware by the autoblaster Y-Wing I was flying).

One list that I faced was an opportunist Kath/Palob build, with Kath having the K4 Security droid. Just have her do green maneuvers while moving away and you can potentially roll 6 dice with a target lock and focus if anyone is stupid enough to follow you and not have an evade/focus token.

Iirc top 8 were a han/jake, Han/3x awing list, 3 different takes on dash, one double IG, one single IG and miniswarm and a mixed alpha/academy swarm. Imp swarm vs double IG in final, with the latter winning.

Shoving Palpatine on a Lambda with an Omni Pilot for 29 points, then having Soontir and Jax fully loaded out sounds like the kind of thing I want to do. Just have the Lambda slowly move around the opposite side of the map from your opponent since there is no range limit for his ability. If your opponent goes for the Lambda, they are forced to ignore and Soontir and Jax for a couple rounds. I guess I know what I'll be using for proxie this weekend.

I'm probably gonna be playing some X-Wing this Friday and I'm strongly tempted to run the following just for kicks:

Whisper
Echo
-both with Advanced Cloaking Device, Veteran Instincts, Intelligence Agent

Omicron Group Shuttle
-Darth Vader

99 points.

On a more serious note I could use some advice/suggestions. I'm looking at tweaking the Kath + Phantom list I flew earlier. I've made some tweaks to it but I'm hitting a bit of a block. Here's what I've been toying with:

Kath Scarlet
-Veteran Instincts
-Mangler Cannon
-Proximity Mines
-Engine Upgrade
-Tactician

Echo
-Veteran Instincts
-Advanced Cloaking Device
-Advanced Sensors
-Mara Jade

I ditched the Flechette Torpedoes/Slave I since they never got used and traded Whisper out for Echo because I want to experiment with the unorthodox movement options Echo has on hand and also because I honestly never found the extra focus from Whisper's ability to be super useful against a (admittedly small and local) meta that seems to dig Autoblaster Turrets.

Thing is, this is only 93 points. I mean, I guess I could just keep a huge bid for initiative but it feels like a bit of a waste. I could take the Andrasta title and load up on Proximity Mines I suppose.

You can buy imperial aces for PtL as well and it'll give you two of them. I think PtL is pretty important for IG lists, especially if you are doing B and C and using advanced sensors.

I'd ditch some of the stress triggering stuff and get some way to boost your actual damage output. Either predator/lonewolf and Gunner on Kath and FCS instead of AdSensors on Echo to free up his action for defense.

Kath
Pred
Mangler
Gunner
Engine

Echo
VI
AdCloak
FCS
Mara jade

6 points left

Id say either assault missiles to keep swarmy Zs spread out or Cluster for a bigger alpha strike with kath.

I totally forgot about FCS, that's actually a good suggestion...I found myself wishing that the Phantom had target lock capabilities when up against someone running Palob. I'll give it a try with Predator, Cluster Missiles, and Gunner and see how that shakes out. Man I wish I could take the K4 Security Droid with Imperial Kath.

Right, finally got my second core set, as advised by you all. (currently looking at perhaps getting a Scum pack like the 'most wanted' one or something similar, so I have a reasonable enough selection for all three sides, but that's another matter) However, how do you all store all the ships, tokens, etc. from your various packs? Do you try to keep them segregated and stored in their individual boxes, or is there like, a container with lots of individual sections to store the different ships in, that someone such as myself could invest in?
If this is the case - and if information on where I might procure one could be provided - I would greatly appreciate it; otherwise I can certainly see trying to sort/keep everything in their separate boxes becoming a bit of a headache..

If we're going by the films, no, they're all British Space Nazis and that's that. If we're going by the EU, the Stormtroopers are still basically the SS, it's the Imperial Army/Navy rank and file who're just regular people.

All this is ignoring the real reason to play Imperials, which is that no Rebel or Scum ship comes even remotely close to looking as good as the Interceptor.

Local law enforcement =/= Imperial stormtroopers.

Imperial stormtroopers and TIE pilots (and star destroyer crews, etc) aren't "only force for law and order", they're military outfits. This isn't joining the cops to support law and order, this is joining the military that pushes the local groups around. The Empire doesn't even attempt to hide that it uses fear and oppression to keep the populace in their rightful place, and joining the regime IS a choice to support that. Sure, you've got some kids that join to leave their small town or escape even WORSE home situations (I was one of those when I enlisted), but you can't pretend they didn't know what the Empire was when they put on the helmet.
