Who else are they going to put up on the stage? it's Hilldawg, Bernie, and O'Malley. Say what you will about the GOP clown circus, but having only two people on a primary debate stage like that also isn't very good, optically. If Bernie doesn't make it to the debate stage, he will have failed entirely as a protest candidate.

I see Bernie on social media more than any other candidate, including Paul. His strat is working well, at least that far. He's helped out a lot by being an honest to god genuine socialist.

I think his position in guns, that he has a position at all really, is one that will help him, but not in any significant quantity. It would take millions of disaffected NRA types, who are paying attention to the GOP primary instead, to suddenly at all care what a guy like Sanders has to say.

How overwhelmingly will Hillary defeat her Republican counterpart in the general?

Kinda helps being the only other candidate the Dems have at this point. Paul would've been significantly more popular if he was the only one running against McCain. (O'Malley is Romney '08 in this story)

Bernie's position on guns is nice and all and I'd love to think that it would mean anything but I simply expect that if it became significant then the NRA could just crank up the SOCIALISM! alarm and drown out what he actually says and does.

Does anyone know if there's good data on the number of socially liberal, economically leftist gun control opponents who don't already vote D?

So, you know, not exactly a lightweight. Also too, she likes Obamacare a whole real lot, and at a time when Arizona Republicans are trying like hell to get rid of Obamacare for their state, to extra gently caress the poors, because Republicans, one might think the candidate who likes Obamacare and wants to preserve and protect it might be more appealing to voters than that temper tantrum throwing bastard from the party that wants to kill your healthcare, because screw you, you shoulda married yourself a rich beer heiress if you wanted to afford stuff like not dying. Since when is Bernie Sanders known as a gun control opponent? He's simply a bit less anti-gun than the average New England leftist.

Single issue voting is dumb, but the idea that Sanders doesn't vote for restrictions on gun rights is fanciful. Bernie may think you should be allowed to bring a hunting shotgun on an Amtrak trip, but he also voted for the AWB and a ban on most modern handgun magazines.

Yeah, but handguns shouldn't be legal for civilian use in the first place since there's no reason to own one except having the ability to kill a person in a small, easily concealable form factor.
