And of course it turns out my wii-u pad charger was damaged when my computer room took on water so now that's dead. Well the couple hours I got was fun as hell, now to get a new charger.

What you might be thinking of is that they're different between the US English and British English translations.

Anyone in Canada have problems connecting to matches? I'm getting error 118-0516 but Mario Kart 8 seems to be working fine. Apologies because I basically never play online on the Wii U.

People were asking where you get seasnails. You know the Cats vs Dogs thing? Whichever team wins gets snails as a reward. Losers get nothing but shame for being on team dog.

In the most technical sense of the term, you are right because this stuff's already on disk. However, just about everyone uses DLC as shorthand to refer to content you have to buy additional stuff to access, regardless if it already exists in your game disk/download. Another example of this is Street Fighter X Tekken, which had a bunch of the DLC characters really just be files locked away on the disks.

I like how no one ever aims for the walls. Its so easy to avoid people chasing you by splatting the wall around a turn and hiding in it until they run by you giving you an easy ambush.

You can just jump right into online. The game starts off with the tutorial anyway so you'll have a feel for the controls by the time you start.

Using height is super important and I've barely seen anybody do it at all. One of the first things I do in the skatepark is go for that middle tower, paint the wall and slide up it. Then you can sprinkle paint on a huge radius without moving much, and you can snipe the hell out of enemy players who aren't even looking for you.

It's a bit tricky to aim down a ramp at someone and hit them, whereas they can arc up just fine. I keep getting killed in the area near the spawn in the skatepark because of that. Might just be a function of how rollers throw paint, though.

Trip report: Local target had a line of nerds when I drove up at 7:50 a.m. PST. Unfortunately, they were dirty Amiibo-scalping collectorheads. Of the line, there were only three others who wanted to be both Squids and Kids, or some superposition of the two. Thankfully, that left the Splatoon 3-packs up for grabs. Protip: I now have a cheap Splatoon branded squirt gun from Target.

Been playing this all evening. It's fun, but the lack of maps at launch is pretty disappointing, especially since there's only like 2 in rotation at once and you frequently have to play the same map 2 or 3 times in a row.

According to Nintendo that's a feature But yeah its pretty dumb. I think they went too hard on simplifying the game for kids; its not that hard for kids to pick a map to play on or a playlist or whatever. We managed to figure out Goldeneye just fine when I was a kid. Also having to pick your loadout before you go into a match is dumb, you should be able to see what your allies are bringing. A team of full chargers = you've already lost.

Using gear levels it up and unlocks bonus abilities. At higher levels you get better gear, and gear can be upgraded using seasnails.

Tengames posted:First thing you want to do is paint your team a path to the frontlines I disagree with this because gun users can move much faster than a roller user by rapidly alternating between shooting and squidding; at least, the guns that shoot fat wads or lines of paint can, I'm not sure if this works well with the minority of rapid fire guns that shoot small wads. Rollers are easier and more consistent to paint ground with so they should probably concentrate on snapping up territory while gunners rush to the front lines to tie up enemies.

Yeah rollers aren't for laying down roads to push ahead; chargers are. But if you have no chargers than blasters can just ink the ground as they run across it.
