Rageaholic Monkey posted:This would make me so very happy, but expecting that is probably unrealistic at this point. Well it's within the realm of possibility but seeing another album in the same style as Era Of Diversion is definitely unrealistic. They released an EP late last year, Under The Radar (EI023), which was a bit weird. Most of the tracks were definitely harder neurofunk style however there were weird ones like NoScope which was dubstep (blech) and Under The Radar which hovers on that line between D&B and trap. Who knows maybe they're just trolling everyone?

I've definitely heard Gigantor refer to the Under the RADAR EP's sound as 'Skullstep'. I don't entirely get it but it makes me laugh. Reminds me of a friend that used to refer to early Current Value as 'Drill 'n Bass'. Speaking of Current Value, he's a powerhouse this year. Less 'drill' and more twostep neurofunk but all three releases I've heard in the past three months (Nitro, Traktion/Jetbike and Force Black) have been outstanding. FadedReality posted:I listened to this earlier today and thought it had a great flow to it and enjoyed the dubstep to D&B switchup. Thank you! That means a lot. Check out some of the earlier mixes in the DropBox link, I'm sure you'll enjoy those too. In two weeks I'm playing a gig for the first time in too long; a launch party for Canadian Content D&B. Lots of intimidating/motivating talent in this circle, and I'm very excited to be a part of it.

Beatport provides both 320 MP3s and WAVs (The latter costing extra though). Of course their download system is loving terrible and just honestly gently caress Beatport in general.

I generally just use Soundcloud and provide a link to a Dropbox download. I should probably use tinyurl or something to track those download statistics. Canadian Content Drum & Bass is now live. Check it.

cheese-cube posted:Some awesome news for Australia/NZ peeps: Just came back from this show in Perth, was absolutely incredible. Got there a bit late, half-way through Trei's set, and missed State of Mind but Neonlight and BSE made up for it. Feel bad for MC Lowqui though, they had his microphone turned way down so you could barely understand what he was saying and he was having a hard time hyping things.

I haven't been hustling for gigs this year (was finishing up a degree), so I haven't been playing anywhere other than the EXBC webcast. Most of my music time this year has gone into production, and will continue to for the foreseeable future. If I end up getting booked for a show at U Hall, or at Flash, I'll post something. Also, next week is Om Unit and DJ Earl at Amalgamation (Zeba Bar, 14th Street NW), and yesterday U Hall just announced Eprom & Alix Perez on Aug. 13th, supporting their new EP. Making the Om Unit show, but out of town in August.

I actually live in Richmond but I play in a band based outa the DC area so I'm up there most weekends but can't make most wednesday/thursday shows. I'm gonna move back in a year or so, I miss my electronic scene. Richmond is great for arts/music but not electronic in particular I find.

It is pretty much down to the venues available, what they are willing to book music-wise, and then the booking agencies getting used to DC being a mid-week stop for tours. Occasionally 3D or one of the smaller promoters throw something on a Friday or Saturday, but usually at a venue with a lower quality system. Not dnb, but this guy Panch throws one-offs that sometimes happen on a Friday. He goes for some different acts, and his next event is Friday 7/17 at Tropicalia on 14th Street, has Dark0 from Rinse FM headlining.

Best gig i've been too in forever. Rhymestar was supposed to wrap it up at 3am. but he called everyone out for an impromptu b2b2b2b soundclash free for all for almost half an hour. Wicked bunch of guys. Rhymestar played a Garage set at the after party. loving maniac, he's shot to the top of my fav mc's. Badman. Had him mc'ing in the car on the way to the after party with Smooth in the front, i couldn't stop giggling like a 5 year old. b2b2b raw video https://www.facebook.com/100004979926162/videos/o.77565420239/478597108982949/?type=2&theater¬if_t=like

A lot of D&B isn't really my thing as I'm more into nonvocal electronic music, but three artists cybernetika, xenofish and mellow sonic do a really great job of blending psytrance and D&B. They're really unlike anything else I've heard. Also all of cybernetika's and xenofish's music is available for free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJvLpn4RrDI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQuldgXFwiI Anyone know of similar artists?

Those two tracks you linked are pretty awesome, very reminiscent of Current Value. For similar artists checkout releases from the label Bad Taste Recordings.
