That's because he isn't in them. He's from the books.

He's really good in this game, I agree. Except for the part at the very end of his quest line where he betrays Roche and Thaler and tries to have them killed. That part seemed poorly justified to me, though his line about always being cast as a halberdier in the play was funny.

-Village destroyed
-Anna dead, Bloody Baron hangs himself

vs.

-Tree spirit killed
-Orphans eaten
-Village spared
-Crones destroy Anna's mind, Baron takes her to find a healer

Of those, saving the orphans is the only outcome that isn't morally ambiguous.

this is probably a bug but I freed the spirit before talking to the crones (not knowing they were related) and both Anna and the kids survived.

I think that's the only way to do both, as the Crones can't punish Geralt/Anna for disobeying them about the spirit when they hadn't even told Geralt what to do yet. I mean they could because they're assholes, but it appears that they don't.

I have no idea why he thought Geralt would have been okay with that, or that he really had the ability to kill Geralt with that lovely ambush, either. Given that Roche had just saved Geralt's life in the scene before that and saves him in Witcher 2 even if Geralt betrays him and sides with Iorveth, I don't know what kind of monster the player would have to be to choose not to stick up for Roche.

Most of the characters from the games are straight out of the books. And a lot of them that aren't have book parallels (for example Roche is Temerian Djikstra and Iorveth is the Squirrel commander whose name I forget, right down to the scar). They do a good job with them. Hell, people like Triss and Djikstra are both way more likable in the games than they ever were in the novels.

It makes even less sense if you read the books because Djikstra tried to detain Geralt once and he beat the poo poo out of all the guards and broke Djikstra's leg (this is where the limp comes from). He's relying on the whole Witcher neutrality, but after you've become a willing accomplice in regicide I don't know why he'd think you'd still be neutral in this matter. His position isn't really in character at all and doesn't make any sense besides. Why wouldn't he try and get Roche and Temaria's support for this? If Roche was willing to put Temaria under Nilfgaard, surely he'd be willing to work with someone he already knew and relied on like Djikstra. That was a bad scene.

What choice was there? Radovid had to die to save Redania from itself, but without him the kingdom was toothless. Thaler/Roche's outcome was acceptable for Temeria, but Redania ceased to be and the remaining Redanians would be either booted off the reservation or hung from lampposts. Djikstra uncharacteristically played the stage for drama at the end because he knew what a long shot it was, potentially going up against Geralt. He was, though, as he said, a patriot.

Literally everything she does after that book, in both the novels and this game, is to help Geralt and/or Ciri. She's actually far more consistently altruistic and willing to sacrifice herself for the good of her loved ones than Triss. She's a bitch but she's always characterized as a good person.

You can get into the House of Respite with the fancy Nilfgaardian clothes you have to wear in the intro and/or the party you go to with Triss. Pretty sure the tailor in Novigrad restocks them if you got rid of them somewhere along the line.

That area is so weird. You never have any incentive to go there, but it's all around level 12 content. I didn't wander over there until I was clearing up question marks at like level 31.

For anyone having trouble with Nekker's hearts, there is somewhere in Velen that has three Nekker's lairs as question marks close to each other. I had this problem with loving Ekkimaras. There are like two in the entire drat game and more than two recipes require them.
